Not so great games you have wonderful nostalgia for?

It's not a very good game. Maybe even a bad game. Doesn't matter as a kid in the 80s this game was just like exploring the park itself in 1988 if you were not anywhere near Cali like me. Since I was the odd kid who LOVED watching R rated horror films at a very tender age naturally my favorite part and still is the haunted house part of the game. The music to this day 30 years later makes me smile as does every sound effect. Is it Aladdin on Genesis good? Hell no, do I care? HELL NO! I love it regardless.

We all have a few so hopefully, this topic does not die like my last attempts. So let's see yours! I showed you mine.:p

My #1 for this topic is Iron Storm. I had it for PC, but it was also on PS2. It's an alternate history FPS. It takes place is the 1960s in a world where WW1 is still being fought. A lot of people that I've talked to don't really like this one. I think it's great though. The gameplay reminds me of Half-Life with its linear progression through the world. It's fun, but absurdly stingy with health packs and ammo, even for and old shooter.

Sonic R. I originally had the PC version as a kid. Cheesy music, bad character balance, and clunky controls, but I loved playing it and still sometimes do.

Sierra's Outpost for PC. This game was way too damn hard, and some features actually shipped broken. The sequel was really fun though, and the original is something to check out at least once.

Pac Man on the 2600. Yes, I realize that it is an abomination compared to the arcade and most ports, but it's the only version I had as a kid, and I loved it, dang it.

Jaws and Karate Kid for the NES. Although I think these are both excellent games, the entire internet hates them for some reason. I grew up with them, have beaten them both countless times, and they are among my favorites on the console. But I realize I am in the extreme minority with that opinion. Well, the rest of the internet can suck it.

Sonic Spinball for the Genesis. It came with my Genesis, so I played a ton of it. I loved pinball games as a kid, so this felt natural to me. Going back and playing it now, I still like it quite a bit. I remember when a friend brought over Sonic 2 to play, and I was like, what is this crap. Yep, the only Sonic game I've ever liked is Sonic Spinball.

I can appreciate the regular Sonic games for what they are, but they're just not for me. I prefer my platformers with more precision and exploration as opposed to the zipping around, but I get the appeal and all, just not my thing. Spinball though, is just so much fun to me, and there's nothing else like it. All the other Sonic games on the Genesis are variations on a theme while Spinball is unique.

I had an old 2600 with a bunch of games as a kid. Pac man of course one of them. I'll never forget that twangy BWANK BWANK BWANK sound the pellets made when you ate them.

I still like sonic spinball. I never saw past that first level as a kid though. That toxic caves theme is a jam.

Same here. I even kinda liked that it looked different since it felt like a sequel. An ugly sequel, but still something new. I'll throw in E.T. as well, which is a decent adventure game considering the hardware.

Robo Pit is the first game which comes to mind. It's a poor man's Virtual On, but I loved building my own robots. So much better than Cyborg Justice, at least in that respect.

People rag on Zelda II all the time, but it's my favorite one. Combat is actually fun thanks to the side scrolling perspective.

To this day, Sword of Vermillion remains a favorite of mine. I can see that it has flaws, and I can see why they would turn someone off of the game, but I don't care. I just really enjoy that game. It's one of several games I periodically replay (I did a replay through that game about a year ago). I'd actually like a thematic sequel (Dungeon Crawler, with random battles that are played out in quick, brawler style fights...a "Dungeon Brawler," if you will). ;)

Also, for some reason, I really liked Traysia back in the day. I like the idea of a JRPG with grid based tactical battles for it random battle component.

I think both of these games could be done better with some tweaking, which is why I like them so much...I like the ideas they introduced (and SoV's OST is God-tier).

SoV holds up way better than Traysia, though.

I'm also a big defender of Zelda II. I just really like that game. Difference on this one is that I think it's legit good, I don't really see many problems with it.
