Is Tekken Tag Tournament the most impressive looking console game of 2000?
Well, if you don't mind interlaced image. People who prefer image clarity above else would prefer Dead or Alive 2 on VGA cable equpped Dreamcast for glorious proggressive video output.
Tekken on the other hand boasts some crazy polygon count (~2 mil per second), much more detailed textures and very impressive lighting effects, including specular and reflections. I mean it fakes per pixel lighting and bump maps, the things that were popularized by Doom 3 four years later, so well that I am not sure if it's really fake anymore. Those are really noticeable on some floors. Or those are not bump maps but actually raw polygons? Either way, it looks fantastic for a 2000 PS2 game. Even 2005 Tekken 5 lacks this kind of lighting effects and polygon count per character. All it has is that awful bloom that every 2005-2008 game had.
