It would be good to see a new console competitor though, its only been Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo since 2001. There are tons of companies that have the financial ability to compete.

But theres only 2 conventional consoles, like no one debates between getting a PS4 and a Switch because their purposes are very different. Though the Wii U was a conventional console IMO.
Also think of something spiffy for your 1000th post.
Despite all the hype, the Atari VCS campaign still has less than 10,000 backers at this point.
There's no platform with such a low number of users.
IMO it has to reach something around 50,000-100,000 backers for this to become a thing worth talking about. If you're starting with 100,000 users, then you can try to build something around it, maybe beef up the specs a little bit (4 GB of RAM for 2019? No, thanks.) prior to production and go from there to try to reach a million units and only then you may/may not become a needle mover.
IDK what kinds of plans Atari has for this, but for the sake of the backers I hope they manage to run a bigger pre-order campaign for this with some major partnership (let's say Amazon) by the end of 2018.
Otherwise I see this being forgotten real fast, especially 'cause by the time of its actual release (July 2019) it's very possible that we'll have the likes of Raspberry Pi 4 available and it would affect one of the potential market niches of the Atari VCS (Linux-based emulation boxes).
Switch and PS4 are selling the best and Xbox selling the worst. By years end NSW will likely be on the part if not surpassed XBO sales. I have seen people even on ERA ask that if they should just get one or the other. Again 18 million in 12 months and expected to sell 20 million on a conservative prediction by this fiscal year's end. PS4 is still steady every month and Xbox is lagging way behind.3 is a crowd. 4 is impossible. Meh on 1000th post. This is like the 463rd time I reached a thousand posts somewhere.
I essentially agree, but at least its DDR4.
But I meant the powerhouse market. Like no one will purchase a Switch to test out their 60" TV or 7.1 surround, like they would with a PS4 or Xbone. Or for Blu-ray/DVD playback. Its in the hybrid market, and the only competitor as far I know.
Anyways, I lost interest in this project once they announced its gonna be crowdfunded. That just means they have no faith in it, they don't wanna be financially screwed if it bombs. This thing is a disgraceful, nostalgia bait dumpster fire.
Fatman speaks the truth.
Yeah he's actually right on this aspect. Over 2 million for a system with zero games to show for it. I didn't think that many damn retards existed....
Y'all are wrong it has the most killer app new game to come this year!
It showed this game! better looking than God of War. More iconic than a Ubisoft game or Nintendo game! More cinematic than David Cage's Emotions at a film festival! \
It's THIS GAME!

Check that shit out yo! So graphically demanding like a Vita indie game!
And look for anyone who seriously got offended at the word "Retard", You need to relax. I'm calling it what it is by my own definition because who blows that much money into a system with 0 software or anything else to show for it other then a logo and a crappy Joystick? So please stop being so damn sensitive.
This thing is going to fail and fail hard. I'm sorry if you spent money on this but you're an idiot if you did. The only reason I can see someone buying this is just for collectible's sake and that is it. They're literally asking damn near the price of a PS4 Pro for the full package and in this day and age especially after the Coleco bullshit, you'd think people would have learned.
Who got offended at retard? lol I had a sister who was retarded. I used the term all the time. Retard literally just means slow/delayed development. She was clinically labeled retarded in the 70s. It's not a slang term. So it's funny if someone is offended at the word.
The Steam Machines had no chance of succeeding, they were insanely overpriced and too many hardware variations. Also if you want to break into the console market, then physical media has to be a feature.
I don't think its wrong to call someone a retard when its justifiable. Its just when people use it as a blank insult like so many other ones.
MrMatthews doesn't like that word and I see no problem honoring him that respect. When you think about it, any and all swear words shouldn't be used. If for anything that they contribute to negative vibrations whether you use them against someone or they used against you. Nobody wins.
