That these companies have zero respect for the work done by the people who created these classic franchises is a well known fact ( and since they own the IPs for it, they can do basically whatever they want with it: from sitting on top of a franchise and never release a new game again; turning into a pachinko machine or even into a hentai game, like Valis ) and unfortunately that's how the game ( *ahem* capitalism ) works, but I had like 0.05% of hope that the suits at Sega would eventually entrust Atlus into making a new Phantasy Star game ( with Rieko Kodama at the helmet or at least as a consultant, of course ).
That is what I call wishful thinking :lol:

I am not disappointed that it's mobile game, that character design is boring but not bad, no I am disappointed that this is very crappy game with animation of flash game and typical boring mobile gameplay that is seen in dozens of crappy mobile games.
Also disappointed that this is also 30th anniversary game of a awesome rpg series with generally good games in the series like the originals on the master system & genesis, online 1 & 2, ZERO, and Universe & Portable sub-series. I wish they could've made a good collection to celebrate the 30th anniversary for either the recent consoles or PC by M2 containing PS1 through PS4 with maybe retranslations, various options, and a ton bonus materials like development documents, commercials, artwork, interviews, and other cool things.
Well at least the series is in still good shape compared to what Capcom did to the Breath of Fire Series or Square releasing mediocre mobile games based on beloved Tri-ace games.
Doens't surprise me. Outside of Yakuza series and the crowd funded Shenmue , Sega of Japan has nothing of value for franchises as they don't have the ability to recapture the magic.

phone games are proof that woman playing games isn't a good thing per se. they are like in the dark ages. I hope this will change and they develop proper taste in games like we have. because there is way too much focus on mobile phone games right now and they are making a ton of money of it because woman will pay for just about anything.

Have you actually played each of these games to completion? 6 partially took place in Hiroshima. They take a long time, but are well worth it.
Up to part IV but then each new game just feels the same and to play one is to have played one before. Its very much like Assassin's Creed, but at least with AC each new game takes place in a brand new location. With Yakuza its the same old locations reused time and time again Don't get me wrong they are nice well made games, but they are all too similar now . Not really impressed with Yakuza 6, but did love Yakuza 0. But I love to see the game branch out, and start to take place various loctaions around the world and for the series to have a 2 to 3 years development time and for it to be multiplatform on the current consoles and PC.Quote:

I don't get your dig over ND because when it comes to a game story, the script they are very hard to beat. I loved the 1st Two Yakuza games and 0 and while I enjoyed the rest. The series is fast running out of idea's and needs a break; In just the same way no Assassin's Creed game is bad, to play one is have played another and Yakuza is getting very much like that and its no good to have the same team working on the same game each and every year.
