The team that made the Wonder Boy III remake didn't have years of experience making Wonder Boy games when they approached Sega, and their game turned out fantastic. I think it's too early to make a call on this one. I want to see a more polished version of the visuals before I form and opinion, and I do agree that the most important factor will be how well it plays. That's vital for a beat-'em-up.Quote:

Obviously Sega didn't want to divert her teams that are working on its successful IPs of today to work on an untested revival that is impossible to know with certainty that it will succeed. Though I myself would've preferred japanese working on SoR than westerners. Yes, I'm not fond of the game aesthetic and perhaps that feeling will change over time, but that doesn't mean that Streets of Rage 4 can't or won't be awesome. We all want that.

I think it's awesome we are finally getting a new Streets of Rage game, it was definitely the highlight of my week to find out about this a few days ago. I just hope it turns out good so i'm keeping my expectations in check until its released, also I hope it gets a physical release.

I don't like the look of this and even the music used in the trailer is just wrong ... Live guitars shuld have no place in a SOR game ;)
Sorry but blaze looks and fits the same, she just look different because the art style as changed. About other enemys is just punks ok, but have to be changed to consistence to pass the impression of changing the time, but like you said lets wait to see.Quote:

I don't think it'll change much from how it is now. From what I can remember, Dragon's Trap didn't change much from when it was revealed. They can at least adjust the tone, make the colors more somber, though.

I thought that only happens to a Sonic game made by the Sonic Team were its get a ton of greif over its look and gameplay does not matter if its WIP. I don't mind handdrawn art, but this looks nothing like a SOR game the moody, gritty atmosphere is all gone and even the GFX don't look that good (hand drawn or not) Nothing up there with Rayman Legends, never mind Dragon's Crown which is years old even Mega Man 11 is looking better and that's also WIP. This just seems a typical half-assed Sammy adtempd to milk classic SEGA IP like with Phantasy Star Idola for the mobile..Quote:

The more I see, the more irritated I become. Nobody leans into their punches, and every enemy that gets knocked back just floats away. When you don't have to work within the sprite tile and real estate limits of the Genesis, there's no reason to basically paint over top of blown-up sprites. You don't have to keep characters rigidly vertical to keep from needing another column of sprite tiles. On the Genesis, stuff would start disappearing if too many sprites/tiles were in the same row, but those limits are out the window now. If I was tasked with making an official Streets of Rage game, I'd be watching a LOT of fight footage, from street fights, to Muay Thai, boxing, judo, and other CQC styles. See how people react when hit, how they fall, how they recover, and animate some amalgam of those. When games pay attention to details like that, they become legendary. To this day, GTA4 impresses me not because of anything in the gameplay, but how your 2G phone interferes with the car stereo if you're about to get a call or message.

I'm seriously looking forward to this but also, sensibly I feel, preparing myself for disappointment just in case.
I am very excited myself. Altgough, as much as I like the theme music and understand there needs to be a new track per game, I sure hope they amp up the bass. Streets of Rage is known not only for it's great soundtrack, but more specifically the synthesizer music + the bass. And if possible, bring back that intro theme track from part 1 ( my favorite) in a later level (remixed or not) like they did in part 2.
On the music front, I'm taking Yuzo Koshiro's tweet that pretty much amounted to "no comment" as a positive sign.
Without more information, I wouldn't read too much into the music that was used in the trailer. Trailer music is often just that: music created specifically for a trailer, and not necessarily intended to be used in the final game/film.
Hopefully, there won't be any RPG elements and such nonsense in the game.
What would be interesting to see is a Time Attack mode, like the one found on Final Fight CD ( a good way to learn enemy patterns, improve your crowd control and fun to play when you're short on time ); fast paced, with a scoring multiplier regarding how fast you can kill enemies, while a set of remixed music from previous Streets of Rage games plays in the background.
Or maybe a short game in the same vein of RE2 '4th Survivor' mode: you play as Shiva and have to break out of prison by fighting your way against your cell mates and prison guards. Lots of enemies to deal with it and not a whole lot of time. A Survival/Time Attack mode. Like Splatterhouse part 3, you would also need to find the correct path as you go along.
In the end, you would have to fight...... Adam!

Jake Kaufman is okay but leans too hard on the dubstep idiocy. The Shantae HGH score was much worse than Pirate's Curse. Some levels have a minute or so random drum intro until the song actually starts. It's horrible.
Also, Yuzo Koshiro said in a twitter that he can't talk about SOR4. Not that he doesn't have anything to say. He might well be back on the game, which is why he can't talk about it.
