I still have my PS2 fat hooked up to a CRT using component video. I have most of the popular PSOne titles.

PS1 games have aged so badly and are so unpleasant and clunky for me that I have zero interest in this thing. I own some of the 'classics' on PS1 and don't find them as fun now as I would've many years ago when they were more novel, if even then. Besides Front Mission 3 and Klonoa, there are few PS1 games I return to regularly.
We need a port of the Wii Klonoa remake on modern HD systems. Such a great game.
Again, I can personal verify that when those Nintendo units came out, it was nostalgia that sold them to many of my friends. These were people who do not collect, often don't game at all anymore. They saw the units as plug and play with their favorite games included. Now, does PlayStation have that same nostalgia? I would say no, as it was a system that was marketed to teens who already grew up on Nintendo and Sega and Atari. However, you can't market for nostalgia buyers unless you have the main titles. Should they exclude the "must have games," this will go down in flames.
Even amongst collectors, PS1 in my experience was never the high demand nostalgic collectors market like Nintendo or SEGA systems and games. By demand, I mean high price common games. I go to any gaming store are they are selling brand newly manufactured N64/SNES and Genesis controllers and accessories. People of course have nostalgia for any era (I even have some for early 7th gen) but I agree it's not to the levels SEGA and Nintendo have.
Think its meant for PS fans who just like to relive their happy memories of the PS. With a mini system that will work on modern TVs and can be transport easily around room to room. In the days of modern emu there is no need for this or the Snes or MD mini, but thats to niss the point. Also some PS games are going up in value fast, like the Lunars, Harmful Park and even stuff like R Type Delta.
Think its nice for fans of the system. Hopefully SEGA will follow suit with a SEGA Saturn mini.
Don't know about a Saturn mini but SEGA delayed the Genesis mini to next year and supposedly dropping Atgames.
Saturn mini will sell like hotcakes. Two problems.
1. Emulation
2. Panzer Dragoon Saga source code (assuming Sega is smart enough to know this is the number 1 game to include anyways)
If they can solve #1 then #2 would become a non-issue.

Back to the PS1 Mini, I really want to see games worthy of an HD screen. I wouldn't mind going through a polygon fest if it's something like a colorful RPG. But by g-d, please don't add any more basic polygon infested crap. Also, I want to see some hard-to find and/or highly expensive games like Nintendo gave us with their minis. And perhaps, something never released, at least States side.
