Not that I will buy this thing but IMO it's more compelling than the Nintendo ones. Wild Arms man. FF7. Tekken. R4 and more.

Games it needs to have:
- Metal Gear Solid
- Resident Evil 2
- Crash Bandicoot
Games I would love to see on it:
- Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
- Doom
- Silent Hill
- Vagrant Story
- Street Fighter Alpha 3
It's a console that I never had, and at the time there was really nothing exclusive to it that I really wanted to justify buying it. Well, maybe The Lost World (Special Edition).
Let's see if one can add games to this.
Interesting. Gotta have some real hard to find games, otherwise I really don't see the point with a PS3 and OG PS1 and PS2. The games mentioned I already own. Except Jumping Flash. First time I ever hear of that game. And Ridge Racer... cuz it's the best gaming experience you'll ever have and every single person in the world should own it.:?
All kidding aside, this does appeal to me personally in the same way as the NES and SNES classics. Something of a mini experience, no pun intended, of a console I didn't get to have bitd. Kind of like a second chance to live that moment.
I do wonder if it's DS3 or DS4 compatible. It should be. The corded controller is cute and all. But if the tiny PSTV is, then so should this be.
Cool, I'm always down for these retro console if the emulation is spot on.
It's disappointing that Sony have revealed only 5 of the 20 games that will be available though.
Lack of dual stricks is also worrying, PSOne Classic incoming next year with them and new games?
Why can't they make those consoles so that you can purchase more games via download?
Wipeout or nothing
The $130 CAD price tag kills the impulse buy for me. I will keep playing PS1 games on Vita.
Interesting! I imagine Sony have had a much harder time than Nintendo/Sega/Atari/etc pulling together a list of titles due to the lack of first party games. I wonder how much of the retail price will be covering licensing fees, compared to the hardware, and how that's going to affect Sony's margins.
I just noticed at the bottom of their page that the AC adapter is sold separately?!
So that means:
Runs on batts?
Runs on standard +5 USB and comes with a USB cable but no actual adapter?
If it is just using a micro usb connection for power then hopefully that means they have designed it to be plugged and ran directly off your TV usb similar to how I've used my SNES classic when I've pulled it out to use from time to time?
Not sure I will grab one of these. I missed on that era of the first PS and thus no attachment to it. I do own a few PS games but got them because they were cheap used and I knew I could play them on the PS3. Metal Gear is one of those games. But yeah...not sure.
I actually played FF7 in higher quality D3D mode on my PC back then LOL. I still own that PC version of the game and that was really my first experience with a Final Fantasy game.
I have this...

I have zero reason to buy this.
I love these things for the modding aspect, I would be greatly amused if I could upgrade this with an internal 1tb ssd and add a nice collection of my own personal favorites to it.

I too am in the same boat, zero reason to buy a PSclassic
Sony Europe on their own made so many decent PS games like Wipeout 2097, Colony Wars, G Police Ect. I woukd imagine it be more trouble to get GT on there or the In House Sport games like NBA.
I love to see the Lunar's, Grandia, Silient Hill, MGS and Crono Cross on there myself
Policenauts for PS classic
I already posted my Saturn. Grey one that had MUSHA in a 32X.

I have crippling respect for the Sega Saturn
I must not betray Segata Sanshiro my lord and savior
Are you trolling? Ports on other systems be damned, PlayStation had a top notch library. It had a lot of games for everyone. I know a lot of you guys don't care for this Classic thing, but it's not for gamers. If anything, it's like the NES and SNES Classic. For people who want to relive the 90s again. And let's not jump to hasty conclusions yet. We don't even know what the rest of the lineup is.
The Vita's damn good for classic games. Because it can run digital PSP games, it has a lot of PS1 games that are cross buy with PS3, a Genesis compilation (with some arcade games), a bunch of TurboGrafx games, an Activision 2600 collection (this one has some issues but it's nice to have a portable River Raid), Capcom compilations, etc..
For extra nostalgia, remember to sit your PS Classic on its side.
Yeah, I’m with you. I feel like I already own all the games they are going to pack into it, although I’m assuming they will all look better on this game.
Jumping Flash is that really primitive first person 3D platformer where you play as a robot rabbit. It was a lot of fun back in the day and one of the main reasons I bought a PlayStation.
Truth be told, the whole point of this thing is to capitalize on popular nostalgia, so odds are pretty good that anyone who has even a bare-bones PS collection will already own these games. I’m sold it it has Symphony of the Night on it (which it probably will).
That being said, I haven’t seen anyone do this yet, so I will predict the other games.
Metal Gear Solid
WarHawk
Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot 2
Crash Bandicoot 3
Crash Team Racing
Grand Theft Auto ... 2?
Oddworld
Wipeout
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Resident Evil
Spyro the Dragon
Tomb Raider
Twisted Metal
...Chrono Cross?
...Mega Man Legends?
...Croc?
Jumping flash is a decent game and an early on for PS1.
I can see these appealing to collectors. Also gamers like myself who want to experience something they didn't bitd in an abridged fashion.
I'm guessing these games are going to be in their original (or close to) resolution like they are through PSN for the PS3. It's not going to look good on an HD LCD, like the NES and SNES Classic do.
Considering the vast difference of memory in PS1 games compare to nes/snes
I'm guessing this will be 8gb or 16gb of internal storage, which is great once hacked.
I'm honestly more interested in what the insides look like and emulation quality of course.
So...
1) No Dualshock for some reason. Games like Gran Turismo (I'm sure it will be included) are much better with Dualshock.
2) No info on how it will manage interlaced games. PSOne classics on PS3 were really fucking bad in this regard. Tekken 3 was literally unplayable no sarcasm.
3) PS2 slim is just as small and plays PS2 games as well.
The reason the NES and SNES classic sold well was because they were cheap and had many games on them that have become stupidly expensive over the years. They also had some unreleased games on them. The PS1 and the games listed so far really don't fall into that category. For one the games listed so far are all still a dime a dozen, secondly they're available and even still playable in their original formats on newer systems like the PS2 and PS3. The PS3 even up scales them last I checked.
So for $99 this is a hard sell for me.
