Blue Blue Skies I see! We need more arcade racers
The arcade racer needs a proper comeback. Forza, Project Cars, Driveclub, Gran Turismo are maybe the most high profile racing games this generation. An era where Microsoft brings another sports car on it's an E3 stage then shows shiny headlights as they verbally masturbate to video game cars. It's become so cliche and so boring. I don't hate the more realistic racing games but I'm tired of them being practically the only thing on the market and how you can see the men on stage talking about them are jizzing in their pants.
You don't have to be so in love with cars you want to fuck them to enjoy racing games guys (talking to those on stage). Some just want to have fun. Not that Forza isn't but can we get some more blue skies? One of the reasons I was so hyped for a game announced years ago that sadly become Vaporware was 90s Arcade Racer.
Look how dumb this shit is!

Sadly this never came out but the idea is there. I miss the Daytona USA's, Top Gear and such. Yes, I know Forza Horizon exists and I liked the first one but it's not dumb enough. In Top Gear overdrive with a code, I could be the N64 logo. Daytona had me driving past Space Shuttles and Cruis'n series had me in exotic locations like under the ocean or driving through the pyramids. Not even touched the future racers like Wipeout, F-Zero, Rollcage, and hell even Kart racers. Sure we still have Mario Kart and SEGA is making a lesser game in Sonic R racing but I wish it would be a sequel to the best Kart racer ever in Transformed. We are getting some arcade dumb racers like Onrush, Grip, Trailblazers, Redout, Xenon Racer, Horizon Chase,GRIP and a few others. Smaller projects and some I mentioned are out and fun! But where is SEGA or other bigger developers doing this? I guess they think they won't sell. Maybe they are right and people don't want them and want more realism and less imagination which saddens me. These days I take what I can get but man do I miss it. Again not saying I dislike a more realistic racing game but I wish we had a steady influx of over the top arcade racers as well. I know I forget to mention some like Boat/Jet ski and such racing games such as a really good one and more recent Riptide GP Renegade.
Anyone else misses these kinds of games? Also feel free to talk about ones you like from any era. Retro or modern. Anything you want regarding the arcade racer even more subdued stuff like Horizon.
