I picked up some sealed PS2 games at Thrift Stores. A pristine copy of R4 on PS1. Katamari Damacy, out of the box but otherwise new original Xbox, a bunch of Genesis controllers and a Street Fighter Akuma PS2 controller. Genesis games. Mischief Makers on N64. Sone boxed PC games and out of box PC games like 7th Guest. So much more. This was around 2010-2014. 2015 is when resellers took over those shops. I stopped going because you can't find them anymore.
Last thing I got at Goodwill was a DSi cobalt blue for $15 less than GameStop. Prices are indeed hit or miss.
In my experience, it all depends on who has the pricing gun. Sometimes i’ll find a stack of games, indiscriminately marked at $3.19 each ... a few weeks later at the same store, they are priced $10 to $30, according roughly to the perceived value of the game.
I guess the moral there is to be patient and persistent; the deals are still very much out there.
