Donkey Kong Country is more impressive, and it sucks ass.
This board *hates* DKC unlike any other board I've seen, but I'll still say that DKC has some very clever level design and used its gameplay elements (spikes, barrels, floating, etc.) to great effect. But Vectorman is an action run 'n gun, compared to DKC as a slow platformer, so how can you compare?
If you're speaking graphically, then DKC wins in terms of color and 'screenshot quality', whereas Vectorman wins in terms of special effects and lighting.
DKC wins though I wonder why you are comparing the two since they share nothing alike. Oh, and DKC characters look like plastic.
I always thought they looked more like clay. =P

Can somebody tell me what makes Vectorman so special? I don't get it at all.
It's a special effects showcase, especially in terms of digitized art, lighting, scaling, warping, rotation, etc that IMO is not matched by most of the other graphical greats on the system. That's the number one reason it's so special.
Secondly, it's a solid run 'n gun with very creative level design and a bunch of firepower.
Thirdly, many people enjoy the Eurodance synth soundtrack.
Uh...I think that's it. :p
-Vectorman is a darn fine action game with some amazing (for the time) visual effects.
-DKC is an average platformer that gets more credit than it deserves due to its visuals.
I know the two aren't of the same genre, but I still think it's safe to say that Vectorman was the better game. We all have opinions though...
I always found Vectorman to be an impressive display of 16-bit power but somewhat lacking in gameplay. Although very well animated the sprites were pretty bland. Ditto for the backgrounds and most of the level design which, apart from those wacky intermissions, was depressingly labyrinthine and repetitive.
interesting. Besides the graphics, wich game do you think had the better gameplay? In terms of gaming art
I never thought Vectorman looked as pretty as Donkey Kong Country but I love the super tight control and fast pace of Vectorman. Dkc is so slow. Ws it desgined for 9 year olds? I still don't think it was a wise game to compare . Personally I think DKC was very over rated. In the words of Shigeru Miyamoto "Donkey Kong Country proves that players will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good."
DKC looks far better but it's gameplay is mediocre and strictly by the numbers.
Vectorman is nice, but DKC is far superior visually.
Aside from graphics? Well, I think they both represent their respective genres pretty well, but I'd say that DKC is probably the 'better game' just in terms of being a quality platformer vs. Vectorman being a quality run 'n gun.
But again, no one here will agree with me on that.
