That's clearly not a game for me.
A lot of great names, but I have to say I'm not impressed with anything I saw/heard so far in those videos. Gameplay seems meh, graphics and music feel like early generic MD games.
I got my copy. Haven't opened it yet. The OST says "not for sale" on it. I think they mean "not for resale" or "not to be sold separately", as they actually sold it to me.
That's a translation of 非売品 "hibaihin" which you'll see on things that are given out as prizes, as is the case with the OST. You're technically buying the game and they're giving you the OST as a freebie. They just put "not for sale" on it to make it seem special.
"Not for resale" has a totally different meaning.
Duuuuude... never. but you get a glimpse at the china green thick PCB with its sharp 90 degree corners. Conclusion, there is a substantial chance it is a flashed china blank.
There's no way you can get a good enough look in that video to judge the thickness of the PCB (we're talking fractions of a mm difference). Green also means nothing, since most PCBs are green. And all of the new EPROM-based PCBs have sharp edges.
But in agreement: I don't think I've ever come across anyone in Japan making reproduction EPROM-based PCBs, and the cheap Chinese flash stuff is really common there, so yeah, odds are that this is a flash-based cart out of China. I am still curious to know for sure, though.
Mine arrived in the mail today from Play-Asia. Included the OST and everything sealed up the same as shown in the video at the beginning of this thread.

Well as will come to no surprise, this cartridge consists of mini rhythm games. They can be rather fun when you play them at the higher difficulties. I think that of the 4 you get, that Running Girl is the one with the most issues in regards to hit detection and generally just doesn't feel to be in rhythm with the music that much.
Speaking of the music, most of it is quite catchy and the trailers shown are only playing some of the music. There are many tracks in the game and it has a pretty cool music player. In addition, the title screen itself will also play through all the tracks if you just let it sit there with the 16-bit part bouncing to the beat of the songs as each one plays. One thing kinda cool about the music player, is that in addition to telling you the name of the song and composer, it will also tell you the actual beats per min the song is playing at and I don't recall any other games displaying that.
And to be honest, it is Yuzo's one and only song in the game that I actually don't care for that much. Yeap..just doesn't have that SOR like sound I was secretly hoping it might have.
Just adding to what CrossBow said, the games are pretty to fun to play. TBH, I didn't expect much from the actual mini games, but they are quite nice. And most of the songs are really good.
I also played the game, so a few words:
- the soundtrack is completely insane, I would have been happy with the purchase even if the gameplay was terrible
- the gameplay is not terrible but actually very nice, nothing ultra-polished or high-production-values, but great fun without some issues (see the space invaders game not really working too well imo)
- the composer team makes for what's probably the #1 OST on the console now, with great quality and variety, and a hint of nostalgia where the sound design isn't stellar.
- there's about 27 composers in there with a bigger schlong than yuzo himself who only made one track, but of course the game gets a special buzz (which is good) because he's on it and streets of rage is the only game in the universe
- the sound test is the best I've ever seen, shows all the channels plus, if you press start, a little piano with the keys pressed appears
- again there's some bugs, I could never get the clear badge on normal difficulty on a certain track because the bullets would mess up and there'd be a different score each time.
- although the manual is nice, the overall packaging seems weak as the cartridge label reminds me of the MD sunsoft ones (read: bad), kinda already peeling off and with an air bubble underneath; the box arrived with a snapped corner in the back as playasia's packaging was weak and Italy's mailpeople are horrible people
My favorite track is probably Final Defence from TAMAYO, female capcom composer from the old days, where most of the team was former Namco and Taito employees.
Speaking of, I still haven't plugged the cd in, but project2612 needs to upload this fast.

yeah I jest, the columbus circle trailers all highlight each composer and their games indeed.
I'm so happy with this release, really, industry veterans from Japan pulling out a MD game now?
It's encouraging to the scene, let's hope anything more comes out from Nakagata.
