Reminds me of Double Dragon, with those green Billy / Jimmy head swaps. :)
Kinda looks like Andore, too.
Beautiful!
Is he related to the Paprium story (like someone who worked on the project), or is it a new character for Papirium ?
Put side-by-side, your work looks even more incredible!

Hey !
No, Bill is a "independant" char, like a basic fighter ! But he has his "WM" sigle on his chest. ;)
We create more special fighter ( like a Watermelon Ninja ... ;) ) and more !!
Yesterday Fei works on new comboset.

Awesome work done by him ! And I learn and improve my Pixel art skill, and animation too.
@Avlon : Thanks for this video, but this two games aren't comparable ... 5 weeks against 6 years ... A Pro team, many chars, Zone and animation, effects, scenario, coop mode, the Hardware work on the cartridge, etc ...
As you said, I'm learning here and we take our times, because it's not our work, we have a job outside, a private life, etc ... We make it with passion, good vibes and friendship. ;)
Cheers,
Vetea
I can see your animations are inspired from classic games (Streets of Rage and/or Final Fight), and that's a good thing, I think. :)
About Papi's jab, if you want to make it feel faster and more responsive, you could just remove the first frame. So instead of calling frames 1-2-1, just do 2-1.
What makes what you are doing even more incredible. I mean, Luiz's sprite work is nothing short of amazing, he has great skills. But you are doing it all by yourself on your spare time and you were able to do a lot, compared to someone who has been in working full time on a game for 6 years. It only goes to show that with focus, it is possible to do a pretty decent game in a reasonable timeframe.
Bill... Couldn't have picked a better name!
Now that you mention this... Good catch!
Do you see its accumulation on the screen? :-D
EDIT: As Vetea already wrote, he gets some help from other people including Fei and Gunpog. He is not alone, and a pleasure to work with! ;-)
Thank to Tokay for explaining the meaning of "Bill". :D :D
Yes, I'm not alone for PapiRium, Fei & Gunpog are very skilled in Pixel Art/Graphism. I also graph myself too ( Background, Sprite detail, animation ... ), we work together. ;)
New Video of PapiRium !

Time Rumble soon !! ;)

Impressive stuff!
looks very cool
I don't think that you give yourself (and your team) enough credit. Does the original look better? Sure, in some ways. However, does it look 6+ years better? Not at all.
I'm glad that you're having fun with the project and learning as well. That's the best part of this whole project.
Paprium looked good because it had detailed pixel art and a huge ROM. So there's lots more unique background tiles than most Genesis games, it really looks more like an early CPS1 or Neo Geo title, albeit somewhat lacking in animation. I think maybe that was the problem. There's only so much bandwidth to upgrade tiles each frame and it adds up fast when you have two detailed BG layers plus big sprites.
Papirium actually looks like a Genesis game. I bet it will fit on a cart without needing a custom mapper, extra RAM and a modern DSP. If it's fun to play that's all that will matter.
