How do I go about to make it NTSC again? Do I just remove that crystal and the wire?

I don't recomend, if you back to ntsc you gonna got a serious problems of jail bars and you dont gonna win nothing in image quality
There's a sawed through trace also that will have to be repaired.
Its not preference, i have another consoles in NTSC and its amazing. I had some Mega Drive in the past, now i just have one. Two of them are japanese model 1 and have serious problems with jail bars.. more pronuncing in RGB. So i tired transcode it to pal-m because my first mega and the actual one i did it and solve this problem, the cristal frequence of pal-m is diferent than the ntsc thats helps solve the problem of interference over vdp improving image quality. Also if you gonna use rgb output theres no diference in image quality between, ntsc jp, ntsc us, pal or pal m. So keeping the pal-m help you improve the IQ of your console, but only if the transcode method is done correctly.
*note: I play hellfire with no problems here.
