There is already a dedicated DF Retro thread.
With that said, I'm always surprised by how popular and respected this game is. Even among diehard Sega fans who tend to go tougher on classic games for Nintendo comsoles.
I'm just glad how many bars it sets low, which makes it much easier to potentially make a similar kind of game.
A lot of nostalgia with Contra III and while I do love it. Gunstar plays better. Tho for 16-bit I do prefer the Contra aesthetic. Never been a big fan on Treasure character design. Just love their games and GH has one of the best OST's ever.
Contra III was amazing at the time, but its aged (bar the music). Thought it was better than the MD version, which was simply too hard for its own good.
I think that everybody loves because its a early title and show how amazing the transition between 8/16 bits can be.
I really think that is enven today the best run and gun to Snes, excelent game with good presentation and atmosphere,
the music is really great... but even today i hate the mode7 levels, its annoying to play.
But Hardcops is a better game, who really enjoy the series and not is a fan boy, know that. (but came later anyway)
i must be in the minority who thinks contra 3's music is not good.
Yes. You’re in the minority. Contra III’s music is awesome.
Super C is my favorite in the series and the mode 7 areas from Contra III pay homage to the overhead areas of the earlier contra games. Haters are gonna hate.
Great playing, great looking, great sounding game that is criminally short, more so considering the overhead stages are not very fun.
Konami's F-U to Treasure (Hard Corps) is the far superior game of course. John likes Hard Corps so we might get a video on it too.
I also think it's hard to argue against Hard Corps being the superior game, with more characters, branching story and not having the dreadful overhead levels. Both do impressive stuff, though.
Hard Corps is the last Contra game I’d play, if I was looking for a Contra experience. Contra is supposed to be a run n’ gun platformer, which Hard Corps is anything but. Herd Corps feels like the guys at Konami took levels and bosses from Gun Star Heroes and Alien Soldier, and dropped the weapons from Contra into them. They even added a Wolf Man that doesn’t make sense.
"The extra characters add nothing", just different play style for each one because of unique weapons set that's force you uses different strategys to take advantage of that..
also add's nothing once in Alien Wars you only have a total of 5 weapons to collect throughout the game versus Hard Corps that has a total of 16 unique weapons..
so also we can say that add's variety in game?
And the only people that didn't take different patchs is who only played it one time of their entire life..
because soon in the first and on second stage you had to make choices..
Also if its too hard for be enjoyed to you..
definitively you does not is the game target audience.
