Arcade Power Stick 6B - Up on the joystick not working

I have a japanese Arcade Power Stick 6B for the Genesis and, for some unknown reason, when I press up on the joystick, it doesn't work. I opened it up and took a look at it but, apparently the micro switch is being activated correctly and the cables look ok. Any idea as to what might be happening here?

did you test the microswitch with a multimeter ?

If it has capacitors, replace them!
