People say that every gen and at the end of the generation console limits always hold back developers. Also with Stadia it's selling point isn't just gfx its also about the ease of use (if it works mind) and how they'll be next to no loading times, no need to change games, no need to buy extra storage and its just as easy as watching a vid on YouTube and you can take all that with you anywhere that's got a good internet connection.Quote:

A bunch of the stuff I mentioned is als on PS4 a page back or so. Plus you see in my sig some great PS4 games I played.
You'd probably be more interested in Sonic Mania and Shovel Knight.

It would actually be a big change for me, if a modern game grabbed me enough, to start playing modern games lol.
I’d certainly play through Sonic Mania at some point (though there are always plenty of Sonic hacks / home brew games out there.) The last couple Sonic games I played were the Sonic 2 hack “Sonic Boom,” and the impressive homebrew 3D “Sonic Robo Blast 2.”
Shovel Knight looks like it nails the gameplay (like NES Duck Tails) but somehow the graphics don’t quite appeal to me.
I’m pretty snobby about what artwork I enjoy, lol.
Freedom Planet looks inspired by the old Sonic games so I’m sure there’s some solid gameplay.
This conversation is making me start to wonder: If I could have anything from a modern game, what would I really want?
The answer is that I really don’t know lol. Although that one really crazy, psychedelic Tetris game... did look amazing.
Actually the ONE game that really caught my interest was 3DS version of Ecco the Dolphin... I think it must be good in 3D form!
I need a 3DS first...
Hmm actually what I want more than anything... is to get a 3DS emulator working so I could play Ecco with magic-eye style 3D on my Mac’s 21.5-inch flatscreen. Now THAT would be quite an experience. :cool: (too bad my Mac doesn’t want to run that emulator lol, but maybe I’ll make that work, at some point.)
3DS might be a good entry point now as 3DS is dead. DS line is now dead which means cheaper new units and used. I know you want it for 3D Ecco. SEGA stopped doing the 3D SEGA games now tho. SEGA has the *exclusive SEGA ages games on Switch but I used the word exclusive loosely. It's ports of old SEGA games but they added some features. Like Phantasy Star now has a map. Virtual Racing is a remake but kept the spirit of the old visuals. They sell for $8. Nothing on Ecco yet but just keep an eye out in case they do announce it at some point. If I can remember and see it I will post it for ya. They are good ports as M2 is in charge.

RE 7 isn't your typical RE game I can assure you and I think its unfair to say I've seen more than GOD/FPS games. By the time of the Mega Drive and SNES and had seen and played tons of 2D platformers on the micro 8-bit computers and 8bit consoles, that doesn't mean the likes of Sonic, Shinobi 3 Ect are bad.Quote:

You're really talking up RE7 so I'll check it out, but... grouchy old man mode: I always rather disliked the gimmick of fighting zombies, and I used to see the 1st or 2nd RE game being played by friends. I got the impression that zombies is just a gimmick to avoid "real" violence in videogames lol.
Blair Witch, I'll check it out. Seems like a wildcard type of idea for videogames that could go in a lot of different directions.

But my iPhone was cutting out a bit, just last night (talking to someone in the same small city). And my phone hung up during a conversation like 3 days ago.
And trying to play music off YouTube, on my phone, while driving, means that it loses connection, and breaks up the music, seemingly based on what block or what street.
It's really bizarre actually. I'm using my iPhone for work, so I'm seeing it all the time.
Like when I'm leaving a grocery store, I often have no web connection in the parking lot, but then I'll get it, when I leave the parking lot.
I don't know what sense this makes lol.

And even rural Wales we've got Fibre and I get 90 Mbps unlimited and unrestricted for £16 quid a month. In saying that our Train service sucks and it takes over an hour and 10 mins to travel 21 miles on the Valley lines LOL
