They are saying japan version has cd Rondo or dragon x or something =0 Hope we get sf2 too
I have a TG16 but not many games because of prices. This is the one I really do want if the right games are on there but I need this to be a 2020 thing. I can't do any more this year.
I will gladly buy the Genesis Mini and this TurboDuo Mini. Like I said Rondo Dracula X is on the Japan version =0 proof here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuGnIejo36A
Funny on how just a couple of days ago I typed how I wanted this in Genesis Mini thread (quoted above), now it is happening =0
Not going to lie...this phenomenon is amazing. You know Dracula X will be on it...but what other games for TG-16 do you guys think should be there?
I'm more curious how much mini they can make a PCE? It really is kinda mini size to begin with in real life and the pics above make them look like they might still be about the same size. I'm sure the pics aren't to proper scaling..etc but still the PCE is so tiny they could have just used the original shell molds anyway right?
I’m surprised that the North American version will have Ys I & II. I hope that all of the FMV cut scenes will be there.
I hope they bring Dracula X over and don’t just give us games that were released in this region. I could do without Bonk, though Air Zonk would be alright.
*Collectard Gene Activated*
I want all three shells!
And remember:

Well like I said in quote, it is kind of fitting the turboduo mini will have both cards and cd games since it was the first major console to have a cd unit for it. I'm getting Japan one with Y's, Rondo etc and hopefully my 6 button Mini controller (Japan mini) works with this and I can play sf2 tg16 version.
Awesome news, Konami doing great stuff at the mo. Lovey the fact Pal users get a lovely unit, compared to the horrid America crap
That's pretty awesome, when I first heard about it last night I had to do a double take because I couldn't believe it. Would love to have the Core Grafx mini pictured, i've always wanted a PC Engine but never really got around to buying one because of the game prices so this is great to me.
I like the cheezy look of the US tg16! I will buy IF:
1. Emulation is decent
2. Contaims all Hudson Soft and NEC games (they are owned by konami)
3. English rondo
Yeah, after it looked like these mini things might be a thing, I was thinking this would probably be the only one I'd actually really want. I don't have an actual console, and I don't expect to acquire one at this point. Right now, the interest is definitely there.
I wonder if they'll get the Kato-chan & Ken-chan license (that wouldn't be a problem for the localized version but it'd be silly to have it in the West and not in Japan). The problem is that celebrities tend to charge quite a bit more. Also I'm not sure if the TV network would be involved or not (as this was based on a TV program).
Amusingly, the Western version of the game got a Virtual Console release back in 2007. Not the Japanese one (it seems). Go figure?
respect the turbo. It is superior compared to the white PC engine, its single board design eliminates the PCE’s achilles heel: the ribbon cable that connects the hucard slot to the motherboard. Turbografx is a robust console for the rugged AMERICAN life. (Fuck yeah).
But TA literally hates everything so what did i expect
The North American design isn’t bad at all, well, except for how it looks with the CD attachment. It’s much better than the purple buttoned SNES.
It would have been cool if they gave us a Supergraphx Mini. That way we could have the coolest looking console, along with the handful of games made for it.
I understand why some people do or do not like the look of the TG-16, but it was totally in line with PC Engine hardware/accessory designs. It retains all of the key physicals aesthetics and the t-bone shape is the same as the SuperGrafx. Even the name TurboGrafx-16 fits in with the rest of the PC Engine line.
The USA Snes and its games looked like a breeze block and the USA version of the PC-Eng looked like something taken off Michael Knight Car and had all the style and charm of the OG XBox .
Both with the Snes and Turbo 16 we had hideous and needless redesigns. The Japanese PC Eng system was a thing of beauty and so understated, such power in a little box.
Would you say the pc engine was the dreamcast of its day? Compact and power in simple aero box. Compared to the rectangle ps2 box and tg16 looking xbox original box? Game cube shape was cool but dreamcast in my eyes is best. Sega always made cool looking hardware across ALL regions !
Turbo-16 is more the Saturn of its day to me. Popular in Japan. (DC was not) . Similar sales. Practically non-existent in the US. A 3rd man out console.
At first I was happily surprised by this news and then shit happened when I heard that:
-It gonna have two controller ports
-It gonna include Hucard and CD games
Is it true? Because if so, that would be stupid since this goes against the actual system legacy. The PC Engine does NOT have two controller ports (only one for those who aren't aware) and the PC Engine does NOT play CD games (since it needs an add-on to do so).
And BTW ye, the Turbografx-16 is quite ugly and despite its bigger size, still doesn't have RGB output nor two controller ports.
From what I recall the PCE spent the latter half of its lifespan with the add-on built-in, so that part is actually in line with it. And if they hadn't done that, people would while about having no CD games since they were more popular than the HuCard games (it's the opposite situation from the Sega CD, which most people think is a Night Trap machine).
I imagine the two controller ports is so people can actually play two player games without having to resort to purchasing the multitap (glorified USB hub) they also announced. The emulator probably still shows that to the games as a multitap.
This should have been a PC Engine Duo Mini then!
Anyway ye, this highlights one of many problems with the PC Engine, the fact that most of the library was released on CDs due to the base PC Engine hardware being too limited in some ways and also due to Hucards limited storage (and also Hucards production cost). This screwed many consumers back then who couldn't afford the CD add-on and thus missed out on most of the system library. And this is also a bit annoying because early CD systems had various issues, mainly the long loading times but also the way in-game music usually reboots which is not as smooth as cart games.
And of course that the two controller ports is more handy but this is not accurate to the original hardware so this sucks and it's even more stupid since apparently they already planned a multitap.
It had the Turbo Tap.
The TG-16 may not have RGB output, but at least you could get composite video and stereo sound with the Turbo Booster.
There is currently an adapter that will allow RGB from the TG-16.

Happy Console Gamer has put together a video listing games he'd like to see. I think that Galaga 90' needs to be on there.
Yes, it should have been and that was a system that looked great in Japan or the USA. Still its nice that we are getting a PC Eng Mini and some of its better games are coming. Hopefully, SEGA going forward does a Multi Mega Mini and put the Lunar's and Snatcher on there. I wonder if Konami will put Snatcher on here too
With the announcement of all these upcoming mini classic consoles, do you guys think that the fact that some very rare games are being included on these systems that this will affect the prices of the original games? I'm hoping this starts lowering the prices for some of the rarer games on eBay.
I'm gonna go with a "No" on that one.
BTW, I was thinking a guy like Kanye West will probably be all over this. Remember those old tweets of his.

The guy who runs my favourite retro gaming shop told me that prices for various NES and SNES games started to fall after the success of the NES and SNES mini console releases. I hadn't noticed much of a change myself but just wondered if it would potentially affect the market in the long run.
I want these mini systems but as someone who is now officially broke as fuck i'm just glad I invested in a whole bunch of everdrives, some other consoles that I needed and a framemeister.
