I'm retracting my previous statement about you only playing melee mode, I don't think you've ever played Star Control 2, you sound like you've played the utter shite Star Control 1 which was nothing like the sequel and just so happened to be a strategy-action game.

I would have preferred an approach like Nintendo has taken with their handhelds: allow last gen's games to be played on the new system, similar to how you could almost do that with a regular genesis & master system games. Even with DSi , the new system, you can download old games for it through a download service like VC I think.

A "Genesis Player" for Saturn would have been nice, and could have happened alongside the other stuff I said.

Of course, we could probably spend 50 pages discussing things Sega could have done differently with the Saturn.

Aside from all the other "Sega shoulda done"s, there really was no excuse for the Saturn not to support Genesis games since it was made with a cart port.

Cost? The damn Saturn already had like 46 thousand processors in it and cost nine million dollars to make. Besides no one else in the fifth gen had backwards compatibility then.

They shoulda put one fast 32-bit CPU inside instead of 2 half ass ones!

There's actually 2x not half assed CPUs in Saturn. Only problem is how the CPUs are designed to work together, sharing bus and RAM...

To back up my argument, simply compare the two CEO's, the 3DO is clearly better because Trip Hawkens looks like an arrogant douche and therefor is correct while Atari CEO Sam Tramiel looks like a used car salesman at a parking lot dealership:

Okay here is Sam Tramiel, CEO of Atari during the Jaguar and constant boaster of how powerful his system was.
He clearly was wrong given how cheap his suit is.

Here is Trip Hawkins, his haircut is clearly more expensive than Sam Tramiel's suit, or a Jaguar system at launch. Therefor the 3DO must have been the better system.

I like putting down the 3DO. It's fun. But pretty much everything has been said about the lackluster system.

-crappy controlers: check
-super over priced: check
-inferior SF2 ports: check
-lack luster 3D games: check
-trying to pass off Guardian Wars as an RPG (pfft!): check
-cheesy ass "western" crapware: check
-the 3DO name: check
-being ghey: check
-trying to market it between console and PC game market: check

Did I miss something? I'm sure I have.

Either way there are only two explanations to what you are writing -

1 you've never played the game so there's no point in listening to what you have to say on the subject.

2 it's been a long time since you played the game and your memory is so appaling that you can't remember anything about it at which point there's no point in listening to what you have to say on the subject.
