krikzz mentioned he's developing a sample MCD driver. This is in response to the "but MD+ is easier to use than proper Mega CD" argument, if he releases such a sample then hackers don't need to learn how to program the Mega CD :P

I read that as well. Again, I just didn't get into the whole MSU1 thing for SNES and won't for Genesis either.
I used to think that would be useless, but then I played the Lunars. 16-bit graphics but full-quality music, and the music really did improve the feel of the games. Slight uncanny valley yes, with the mismatch, but the improvement made up for it.
Hacks depend on how much trouble the folks went through, does the music fit well etc. So not sure if they're good enough to bother, I haven't played any such hacks, I don't have a SD2SNES.
If someone could add the original PC music (or better still, the Amiga music) to Wing Commander on the Sega CD then that would be more than worthwhile.
Joe attacks again with an excellet review

At last, a balanced and in-depth comparison of the two products.
Thank you, Joe.
LOL, that NES emulation is terrible, and everyone wouldn't stop raving about the possibility. Beyond that, it seems Krikzz has some things to correct on the CD side of things, and I believe his does not compute with the Redump project.
I definitely am more interested in the MegaSD after watching. Krikzz dropped the ball it seems, there's too many issues for me to want to consider it. Hopefully he fixes all these things soon, but until then I'm not going to pick it up.
Is there a way to adjust FM volume/mixing on either cart? I noticed looking through the options in Joe’s review that the MSD had a CDDA volume control whilst MEDP did not, but it’s the FM sound which needs turning down for some games, for example Lords of Thunder, Dune and Space Adventure Cobra to name but three.
That review just makes it easier to go for the MegaSD, a better overall product.
You can't do that even on a Mega CD, the FM sound is coming directly from the console. The only exception maybe is if you have a model 1 MD (with volume slider) and model 1 MCD, and even then it involves connecting the cables in a very specific roundabout way (to make the audio come out from the MCD side instead of the MD side).
Just looking at the video the problems with NES emulation seem related to name table mirroring, games with horizontal or single screen mirroring are fine while 4 way mirroring is glitched.
