Thanks for this, Pat. Wonder Boy in Monster World for the Mega Drive is one of my all time favourite games on the system. I think it's a perfect blend of platforming and RPG action.
Absolutely,I've always enjoyed that version as well although I've enjoyed pretty much all the games in the series. Thanks for watching
Wonderboy in Monsterland 4 life!! gonna take that game with me in my coffin when I die.
Great video Pat, another home-run.
Man this was a nice video.
One of my fave series. I esp love III, Monster World and Monster World IV. People should not sleep on Cursed Kingdom either.
The 1st Wonderboy is my favourite Master System game ever made and just one of the greatest games ever made . My local chippy used to have the Arcade game and it was amazing to see how close the Master system version got.
Loved the sequel on the Master system, me and a few mates used to mitch off school just to play it, we must have completed Wonderboy 2 countless times. I was so upset that SEGA never looked to bring Monster World IV to the West, more so after all the hype it was getting in GameFan.
I hopping SEGA would go back to it in the 360/PS2 era and make a 3D game in the Canvas engine :(
Mitch off!
Chippy = Fish and Chipshop takeaway, if you will.
Back in the '80s and early 90's there would also be full of various Arcade machines for you to play while waiting for your food. Its where I 1st saw and played the likes of Wonderboy, Tigi Helli, Xenex, SF II, Spy Hunter, Soccer Brawl (one of the most overlooked and underrated games of all time) Kung-Fu Master and host of other Arcade classics..
They were huge back in the day, still quite popular now, but back in the 80's and early 90's there were always full of the Arcade games and cost just 10 pence per credit (like 15 or 20 cents for you guys?) none of the Highend Arcade boards, just a lot of Jamma titles
Really good times. Still remember my eyes popping out of my head when the local chippy had Xexex installed. It was like the REZ of the 90's those backrounds were like a druk LOL
The norm for arcade in the states was usually just 25 cents. Generally tho a lot of those places were hole in the wall type arcades.
For me there were more arcades in malls here in Texas then anything. I think Aladdin's Castle was the biggest ones around here. Not so much as food but a ton of cabs with many types of games.
Edit: Btw Pat if you're reading this. I didn't get to fully finish the video but did you hopefully cover the Switch release of Wonder Boy?
