The history of the wonder boy franchise documentary

In the states in the 80s the food that went with arcade games was Pizza. Every Pizza joint had at least 1 arcade machine. When Pizza Hut was a sit-down restaurant and those nostalgic red cups. Mine had a Playchoice machine. I think it had 2 CRTs and played some Punchout on it. That's before we get into places like Peter Piper Pizza. Jungle Jims Playland, Showbiz Pizza, and Chuck E Cheese.

Yeah all the Playchoice cabs had two screens just like the Original Punch Out cabs did. The Vs. Series of games from Nintendo in the arcades had slightly different versions of NES games that only recently came out on the Switch like the original Donkey Kong and Excite Bike games which had never been officially released before.

There were loads even in my village, nevermind when you went into town (never mind a City). In Town was where you got to play Golden Axe and the likes of Final Fight. Golden Axe was massive back then, almost every Arcade had a unit and most chippy's too. It must have made SEGA a fortune :)

When I was very young there was an arcade in the city located on the second floor of a non-descript building with a sign hanging outside. The interior was dark and musty and full of kids and teens all stood around cabinets. It was a proper arcade atmosphere! I remember when I first saw the original Mortal Kombat cabinet I was totally blown away.

You guys should watch Hi-Score Girl.

What makes you think we hadn't?

Our local bowling alley had a Vs Baseball game. The cabinet had a screen on two sides of the cabinet and players would face each other.

Yeah, those were the days. I remember just liking watching someone play Mortal Kombat in the Arcade, also was very impressed with its sound. Arcade units were just in all sorts of places back then, even in pubs
I also remember Cardiff Queen Street Train station, actually having a Mega Tech unit where you were able to play Altered Best running on the MD, before the official release of Mega Drive in the UK LOL.
