So it's actually Paplium.
I was going with the Engrish translation.
Maybe there's a big story point here, and you're really in a civilization that has been shrunken down, like Kandor from Superman or the like. Your caretakers left/died and it has slowly become a post-apocalyptic wasteland and bugs (which are giant to you) are sneaking in and wreaking havoc and only the pantsless can save everyone.
Can people still preorder the limited edition copies from the WM site? I don't know what
would make them limited when they're allegedly still available for preorder, after such a
long while.
From what the emails have said both the limited edition and the arcadestick are while supplies last, unless you were an investor.
Of course but we still have people who did not convert their gems yet, so untill then those investor's could convert as many limited edition's as they like.
There is a hard number for the store but we will never know what that is, just like how many Pier solar reprint's have been made or how many prosperity edition's exist.
I just pre-ordered a copy and contact my friends about it. Congrats to everyone involved with this project, it's pretty exciting.
Paprium is actually a pretty good title and that trailer was awesome, but I'm not expecting the best beat'em up ever or some nonsense like that; the know-how in designing a solid beat'em up is something that few companies had, even when the genre was at it's peak, so I think that some expectations are a tad exaggerated.
Pier Solar, aside the "holy-shit-is-a-new-MD-game" and technical prowess factors - and the fact that you can see that there was a lot heart and passion poured into the game - was a disappointment as a game IMO. So, I would like Paprium to be a solid, entertaining beat'em up; one that gets the basics and essentials of the genre right and not a game that tries to impress and offer tons of content at any cost, without a solid game system.
Personally, I think Pier Solar was a really solid game. It has it's flaws for sure, but it was a remarkable achievement considering. If you like JRPG's and the repetitive nature of them, then you'll love Pier Solar. I also thought the dialog was really fun. That alone kept me interested, even with the repetitive combat.
What was disappointing to you about Pier Solar? I honestly thought the combat was the only real weak point for me. I enjoyed the rest of it quite a bit.
I agree wholeheartedly. It's just so difficult to call it with the lack of solid info yet. It looks like WM have tried to appease both sides with the two modes on offer - one being the 'RPB' style using the save slots and the other more arcade-like. I maintain that the original calls for RPG elements in the game are from people who don't really get the genre ('those old Beat 'em Ups are so repetitive, we need more depth!'). Whether this approach has worked remains to be seen. In WM's favour, they have thirty odd years of beat 'em up evolution to draw from so that has to be an advantage of sorts.
Best case scenario - the main game is like SOTN is to classicvania, and the traditional mode is solid and arcade-like enough that it doesn't just feel tacked on.
This is why the whole project has been so interesting for me though. Such a challenging genre to get right, the possibility they could have pulled it off intrigues me!
