Yeah, it's not like there are any screenshots, trailers or music samplers readily available for reference.
I wouldn't even try to rate your common sense because it would be a generous negative number score. :>

Not entirely sold on this claim as process management is expensive on cpu cycles.Quote:

I always found this aspect of English so strange.
In Latvian there are pretty big list of strict rules how and when to use commas and you can't (shouldn't) use them as you wish.
No wonder I got worse results at school in Latvian (which is my mother tongue) than English. :D
Of course English as a foreign language was pretty elementary, so this aspect shouldn't be forgotten too.
I believe that Beat Them All is the European (or Japanese?) name for Beat Em Up. In North America we've always referred to them as Beat Em Ups. In fact, you'll notice that Luis, who's from Canada refers to them as Beat Em Ups while Fonzie (from France originally) calls them Beat Them All. Like the different spellings of words we talked about earlier, I think this is also a regional thing.
Beat'em all is a term made up by EDGE (i believe) back in the days when they confused the terminology for fighters with beat'em ups. It's nonsense. Stuck around with some people here, but i thought the internet cleared up that mistake 10 years ago.
Japanese term for Beat'em ups is Belt Scroll Action Game or actually more like Belt-u scrollll action game-u.
I always just called them Brawlers, like a bar brawl.
belt scroller is a 6 month old meme.
and it's belto.
Whatever, it's always been called belt scroll.
And if it's a meme, please link me up because i missed it and I dont really understand your response.
The reason i say it like that i remember i was in that arcade shop in Shibuya (forgot the name...?) 8 years ago, i was collecting all the belt scroll games at the time. And I asked the salesclerk for Beat'em up boards. He didn't understand me... so i repeat with the japanese term... belt scroll. Still he didnt understand me. So I said it like belt-u (not belt-o) scroll action game-u and finally he understood me.
Belt scroller action game is what it's in Japan. I trust the Japanese. They made SOR2 and FF. Other than that I call it beat 'em up as well.
Yes, i have always differentiated beat on one layer and other and with more depths.
There are two family : final fight-like or Vigilante-like.
That's why i can't compare Comix Zone with Final fight and co, it is a beat them up on one layer as Ninja warriors again on snes.
That's why you can say that on final fight like, Megadrive is better than SNES but on Vigilante-like, Snes is better.
Amen. The single greatest sound effect in the history of the genre! Paprium has some big shoes to fill in the sound FX department. I'm counting on the extra channels afforded by the on-board ASIC, coupled with the big ROM size, to supercharge this area of the game.
Still, the hits will only sound as good as the samples they've chosen to go with regardless of the tech.
Sounds with a lot of texture to them are very important. Especially a beat em up.
Time for some shameless self promotion and display my use of SOR sound effects:

Very thick and chunky sound effects make for a satisfying game. Just hear that
crispness and bass.
