That's neat your parents introduced you into the world of sega. I can imagine primary was a bit bizarre when Mega Drive was long gone :)

Nintendo only dominated in Japan, it was quite even in Europe and North America.
Nintendo only ever dominated the handheld sector in Europe. For all the rest they were evenly matched at least. Europe never was one homogeneous market. One country might have had SNES dominance, the next one was MD territory.
Nintendo was slow to aim for Europe which is why Sega had more traction there.
I brought up those three because it seems it's the only places where anybody ever bothers to look into. I wonder how many chances were lost by not paying much attention to other markets.
Weird thing is, I always knew about the NES and Nintendo 64, but I never really knew about the SNES until I visited a friend's house, and he happened to have one.
Unsurprisingly, he was one of my few friends that was also a bit of a Mega Drive fan. :p
Yet most of my memories involving them are watching episodes of Robot Wars. :D
I can't say I'm surprised. Sega Supposedly did quite well in Australia from what I read online though nowadays it seems like it never happened with how Nintendo still makes Consoles to this day and most people glorify Nintendo's victory has a stomping.
Edit: Good to hear people are getting refunds. Especially those who invested over $1000+.
Nah, Sega did not dominate Europe. It was very much divided here.
It was divided here, too. News media of the era even made note of that.
I think the only real dominances were in Japan for Nintendo and in South America for SEGA. Other places had some pretty fierce competition.
Within Europe, the UK was SEGA's stronghold. In Germany, SEGA never reached more than 30 or 40% during the 16-but days, probably more in the 8-bit market though. Handhelds were Nintendo's area.
But that is not really the topic here. Let's get back to Paprium.
I sure hope the coming soon is not meant for just the pre orders going back on sale.
