Now, you could say that this isn't a kickstarter and therefore it should be held to a different standard. However, Paprium has had investors and pre-orders, all of which were first available... what? 4 years ago? I myself have a pre-order made that at this point I've given up all hope.
It's not uncommon for gaming websites and youtubers to do reports on games that are well past the point of delay. How many reports and videos were made on Duke Nukem Forever before the game was launched?
Despite all of this, I likely would have ignored all of this drama had it not been for one thing: The people who worked on Pier Solar, Pier Solar HD, Paprium, Project N and Watermelon in general feel cheated. If this were the case of one or two disgruntled employees I would have ignored it, but no, that's not what's happening, this is a widespread case of everyone who worked or volunteered for Watermelon being disgruntled and the fanbase at large being at a wits end.
With all of this said, is the video a hitpiece on Fonzie? No, this isn't what I'm aiming at. I'm aiming at a documentary at Watermelon in general. Yes, some interviews I've had were very hard on Fonzie, others were more calm and levelhead, but I had no influence in that. When it came to Fonzie and Watermelon, I asked everyone the same questions, using the same tone.
Finally, I do plan on contacting Fonzie and hopefully get his side of the story.
Do I think this underhanded or incorrect? I'm sorry, but I absolutely don't. People have invested money, have made pre-orders, developers, artists, coders and content creators have invested months, even years into Watermelon and I think everyone has a right to know what is the current status of the project, not just those who visit sega-16.
