"And at the end of the day, even if it's not perfect, it's better than nothing. At least, that's my opinion."
as quoted by Keiji Inafune. who lost all credibility when his "Mighty No 9" game was subpar and not the reimagine of "Mega Man", The game he originally created and left CAPCOM for...
Less than two years later, CAPCOM creates and releases "Mega Man 11" and it surpass everyone's expectations.
As far as I'm concerned, "Streets Of Rage 4" will be the game that surpasses all of these expectations.
It's hard to tell at this point what is true and what is rumored, but according to some of the French posters the Sega CD CPU will be used as AI for a computer-controlled player 2. The onboard DSP couldn't handle that, really? I don't see what is so hard about adding a few instructions to have the CPU player walk toward enemies and attack, it's not like you are asking it to play a game of Go.
Also the arcade stick is supposedly going to include a copy of the Paprium ROM and you will be able to hook it into an arcade cabinet (through JAMMA, I guess?) to play the game on that.
If all of this is true it's mind boggling how much extra stuff Fonzie has thought to include - with still no actual game to show.
Hi guys, I'm new here. I just noticed my account has finally been validated, so I'll stop lurking.
About Inafune, I hadn't heard about any of this, so I looked around and found this article that says the "better than nothing" quote is a bad translation.
Very weird parallel. Inafune basically created Mega Man; Fonzie didn't create Streets of Rage. Inafune's game wasn't all he or anyone wanted it to be; Fonzie's game doesn't exist. Capcom's Mega Man 11 was mostly more of the same, still drawing on the overexploited template Inafune created; we don't know anything about Streets of Rage 4, except that it's got stupid western cartoon graphics.
See how nothing in these two situations is actually similar?
If that is the case then Inafne is a bigger moron. It was his own personal translator and remember Translators are developers as well. So he picked a translator who mistranslated? Really!? If you read up some more you will know that was not the case. The translator was just stating his opinion. All he translated was the DLC question. Then he states his opinion in the middle of it.

I followed the whole saga of Mighty no 9 because my name is in the credits of that POS. Inafune kept over promising then kept wanting more money for voice acting than a TV series then Red Ash animated series and Red Ash game and 3DS and Vita owners never got their copy but they refuse to say it's cancelled. They sent the wrong size booklets as well for the NES/Famicom boxes and my god the SAGA was a fucking nightmare. They never sent me my code lol. I went and bought the game and wish I didn't.
I can confirm the translator is just adding his own stuff. Inafune simply said there's no plans for DLC but it's always a possibility if they see fit down the line. Translator guy adds all this nonsense and even completely misses conveying what Inafune originally said.
You're right, he was a character designer on the first game, and eventually came to take a more central role in the series. The actual planner behind the first two games was Akira Kitamura. Still, Fonzie was not part of the SoR at all, etc. etc., point still holds.
SegataS - How would Inafune know if his translator isn't translating everything properly on the spot?
Other people who know Japanese know that Infaune didn't say that.
Maybe it's time to ditch the datenmeister and replace it with a gigabit Flash instead (level shifted, of course, though it already has a 16-bit data bus which is amusing).
EDIT: holy shit my grammar keeps getting worse over time.
I’m not saying the parallels between Paprium & Mighty No 9 are exact. But the delays and promises are similar in fashion. While Fonzie didn’t do anything with the original SOR games, he was promising something that can easily surpass what was done with that series almost 25yrs ago and I’m sorry, that’s a very tall order. The stuff that was showcased and used I. The teasers were incredible and made me believe this massive 80MB game can exist. But after seeing that turd of a demo at that so called “launch” party I am completely disenfranchised about it. Meanwhile a new SOR game was recently announced, many other companies are revising retro games including beat-em-ups, and some indie folks have gone and created very cool homebrews on the MD/Genesis hardware with very impressive results. Watermelon Games is done and I’m afraid that the final release (if we ever do get it) will be huge dissatisfaction and Fonzie himself will be quoted in French by saying something in the lines of “its better than nothing”
The End.
How long until Fonzie makes an announcement after this whole clusterfuck? He's gonna have to come clean or it's the death of him.
