Of course, chat is offering a good way of exchanging with others, for instance while working on a task or a project.
I do not like Discord due to the fact that it is centralized and checking what people post.
Same reason I hate facebook and its abnormal way of handling data.
(but I like cat videos a lot! :D)
Yeah, I love forums, as a place to discuss things and keep content. Discord is just nice to have for the sake of more streamlined conversation. I still like the idea of forums storing our discussions, in-depth strats, reviews, game research, etc. I love forums.
I've finally come to the realization that this game may never see the light of day, at least not in the form we had all hoped. I am not going to ask for a refund though, I consider that money lost long long ago. And while I always try to see the positive in things.. I'm starting to think this situation is beyond repair. IMO, the best thing Fonzie could do is give Paprium to the community unfinished and let them turn it into an amazing game. That will never happen, but there's my positive thinking for the night...
All we can hope now is an announcement before the end of the year tbh. Fonzie can't let this stew for much longer. He'd be an idiot to do so.
Something I really hate about this game, is how much attention this thread gets. If some of the time, content, and passion this thread got, was spread around the rest of the site, we'd have a better community. Hell, if I just took the time that I used posting in about this garbage game, and instead, wrote articles and reviews, I could have contributed heavily to one of my favorite online communities... That's a shame.
TBH a good number of the people commenting here DID throw money away on this vaporware (or were otherwise ripped off), so they do have a legitimate grievance against WaterMelon. I sure don't blame them for blowing off some steam on a semi-regular basis. At least most of the grousing on this forum about the game is constrained to this one thread.
I personally wish to STOP seeing this thread getting bumped already because after 6 fucking years (now about to be 7) It's been nothing but complaints and negative news about this game.
Unless there's a single announcement of this gaming being shipped out, boycott it by stop talking about it.
No offense Zebbe but this thread has absorbed more attention from the rest of the board than it should have, not in a good way I mean.
+1 gigazillion. I'm so glad we have Tanglewood shipping these days and Xeno Crisis coming up. Other than those, we have a few more homebrews and translation hacks coming, but I wish there was more news to talk about.
Why would I be offended by that?
I understand why you hate this but don't think that's really an issue. When there are some news in the world of Sega a new thread is usually opened about it, be it a new official game or homebrew, a new mod, technical questions and theoretical debates etc.
The reason the forums are not hyper-active is simply that there isn't that much going on right now and for the most part, we are talking about 20-30 year old games and hardware.
I think you'll see a spike in activity when the new SOR is out, and when the new "Mega Drive Mini" is out. This thread will one day die, don't worry.
I think most people come here to read the drama while eating popcorn.
To be fair at some point I was even going to suggest locking the thread, as it had gotten so bad that hate in general (and not just towards Paprium) was starting to spread to other threads (and I think it actually resulted in a couple of people getting banned). That may be a bigger problem, if anything.
I, as most here, would not have any problem in seeing this thread locked or deleted, but it could backfire as people would maybe start talking about Paprium on other threads. I'm particularly worried about the homebrew & new releases ones. The fact that everything Paprium, Watermelon, etc is in only one centralized thread may be for the best after all.
That's what brings me here. I feel bad for the people who put their money toward this game but when is the next time I'm going to see someone throw a launch party for a game that doesn't exist? I still can't believe he had a DJ, buffet, MMA guys, jackets, box art, booklets, cases -- but didn't think to finish the game first!! I can't think of a single other example of that happening.
Reminds me of the Phantom games console. Lots of hype, press events, they were even at E3, but the console never saw the light of day.
