You don't mean the Gain option in Paprium menu but on my PC side, right?

OK I'm VUing through direct live inspection whilst recording on Audacity. Still testing, not satisfied with the background hum but I think it'll have to stay there, only noticeable while everything is silent, though. First time recording audio from a game console, haha damn you Fonzie again.

I'm afraid to go too safe to avoid clipping and loose lot of detail and dynamic range. Oh well, onto the game (if you don't want to hear only a loop of attract mode...)

Ok I'm trying 60% MD and 100% line in, that gets me very far from clipping, it will be very low volume, though.
EDIT: not that far nor that low, because dynamic range seems to be huge on gaming sound as I see...

Nice to see you here groovemaster! Love your stuff, been hitting replay on the sampler for years now. I love that baroque-esque track, stuck in my head all the time I can't wait to hear it in game.

For those who say they haven't received their game yet, mines shipping from the US as well. Still no tracking number. It's looking like everyone near France and the neighbouring countries were always going to get theirs first, anyone shipping from the US might be in for a long wait I fear. I keep thinking that perhaps the shipping hasn't updated on their end and it's magically going to appear on my doorstep but considering not a single person from that batch has confirmed to have gotten their purchases that's not likely. Sucks because now I have to avoid footage of a game a really really want to see in action. I've watched 3 stages into arcade mode, still impressed by the size of the world. Those levels arent skimping on size and there's 24 of them. Loads of branching paths too, looks like there's a huge amount of replayablity. Complaints about ai withstanding the rest of this project has come together beautifully. My excitement has returned.

There are sometimes gain settings on your computer capture input, where you switch between mic / line, etc. On windows machines it can be wacky at times because it sometimes defaults to auto-adjust.

In general I wouldn't think it necessary to change the default gain settings in the game for the sake of capturing the factory defaults but I have no experience with the game.

I had hoped that my copy would arrive today since it's been with GLS for a couple of days now, but alas it seems to be still in France. Fingers crossed it will arrive tomorrow then, I'd really like to stream this over the weekend. Too bad I won't be getting any scoops anymore but oh well, guess I should have been living in France then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Interesting about what people are saying that the game runs at 480i. That might throw a spanner into the works for my streaming plans, as I've tried Sonic 2's two-player mode and the Framemeister does NOT like my Mega Drive's 480i output. I have an OSSC too which maybe works better, but it'll be a hassle to set everything up. I'll be curious to see more reports from people with upscaling devices.

ok so I just recorded 45 minutes of gameplay sound, particularly for the music tracks. I chose easy and tried to go as fast as I could in order to get farther faster. I could have altered settings in game so the music was louder, or the punches were (maybe) louder, but for this one it's all defaut.

This is my longest play yet as I didn't have time until now. There are better suited people who already have the game, and videos. Anyway, some things I noticed / feeled:

- incoming bikes from each side, nice sound panning
- riding foes, lots of small awesome little touches like that here and there, you honestly forget if that adds something to the gameplay itself, you just enjoy it
- "elevator" small section hehe
- you can do barrel roll after being dizzied (I was with Tug this time)
- nice standing animation when low on energy, nice animation with the pipe grabbed
- when they throw you, you can turn that into an attack

Overall I'm more impressed than yesterday ! Of course it's rough but overall presentation and the overload of 90s excess overcompensates for this.
Perfect example of pure gameplay not always being the only thing. I did not get bored, though. I was ready to be disapointed today, it was the opposite. And that was on LCD.

Audio is uploading, slow AF so I encoded two from the same stereo source: lossy AAC q64 (94 kbps) and lossless FLAC (816 kbps). To my own fake gmail account. Please don't hack me.
AAC is almost done, FLAC will take at least a whole hour more.

I've been pretty successful with OSSC converting 480i but you might need to use the bob deinterlacer for capturing. I don't like it for actual gameplay and prefer to just let my TV deinterlace since the quality is better. But at least it might let you capture the video.

It's been said that you need to raise the default H-PLL pre/post-coast settings up to 3 for Mega Drive, but I've not tested it since I have been using Mega SG since I picked up the OSCC. Most of my interlaced video through it has been PS2.

lots of awesome tunes even through the punches etc. I tried to break the TVs as soon as I could each time, but you'll hear them sometimes and the end result sound like it was a random sample Groovemaster thew in there.

That is a much better recording than nearly anything from anyone so far. Thank you for posting it. Once the music is playing you can't hear the hum too much.

IIRC I can mute SFX in options and just record the music, right? Also the opposite so you can check if punches sound flat or not...

FLAC is at 25% but I'm guessing it won't sound much better, this is not hifi or anything.

I tried to listen for the pitch shifting glitch that occurred in other videos. 20:30 in there is a pitch change (listen from 20:00 to hear it). I also heard one just after 30:30. Your audio didn't glitch like it does in some of the other recordings. Makes me wonder if it's circumstantial on some consoles; Model, region, age, etc.

Might have something to do with the incompatibility claims. But for whatever reason yours sounds as one would expect it to.

Thanks for the tips, I'll have a better look at it tomorrow. There's also the fact that I'm using a PAL Mega Drive modded to allow NTSC output but with the original oscillator that's meant for 50 Hz, so the 480i output will be slightly out of spec. The Framemeister should be fairly lenient when it comes to out-of-spec signals but it can be quite tricky to get everything set up just right. I've had plenty of issues with capturing 480i from the PS1 as well, especially with those games that are 240p for gameplay but switch to interlaced for their menus.

guys, the hum disappears if I switch to the YAMAHA chip in Paprium options, why would that be? It's instantly noticeable right there in the menu (I have disabled BGM).

Hearing the recording, there's a bit of hum on both (didn't noticed on speakers while live) but it's noticeably louder on the datenmeister. It's uploading. Short audio clip with me switching those modes and then starting gameplay without BGM, using datenmeister AND 6dB Gain from game options (this is NOT default). I don't know if this gain affects SFX or it's only for the music

There seems to be complication with removing noise on anything that injects audio into the cartridge slot on the Mega Drive. It was alleged that Terraonion had the same issues with Mega SD but were able to work around most of it through additional engineering tweaks, though not eliminated.

Without hearing it on my own system, I can't say for certain. What do you use for a power supply? I don't think that would matter though.
