I don't think you want to imply the perceived quality of the game (ie the "reputation"?) depends on how much the creators hype it and for how long (the real reputation of a game -in terms of image, but just that- does, I totally agree on that). See, that's my entire point: we are failing at reviewing the game without considering WM promises, comparisons, PR & dev hell, etc. The game has many flaws and clearly is bogged by this form over substance Fonzie does, starting with the packaging, but affecting mostly development priorities (general gameplay and AI, etc), but it's still a very impressive result almost nobody expected to even be released, and boy is it a spectacular game with so many software and hardware gimmicks, for better or worse. So yes mostly people are ranting like this is not as good as promised, not a SoR II killer, etc, oh well, I don't know what was exactly promised, as I couldn't care less, but surely this is a far greater game that even WM fanboys expected.
