I don't think you want to imply the perceived quality of the game (ie the "reputation"?) depends on how much the creators hype it and for how long (the real reputation of a game -in terms of image, but just that- does, I totally agree on that). See, that's my entire point: we are failing at reviewing the game without considering WM promises, comparisons, PR & dev hell, etc. The game has many flaws and clearly is bogged by this form over substance Fonzie does, starting with the packaging, but affecting mostly development priorities (general gameplay and AI, etc), but it's still a very impressive result almost nobody expected to even be released, and boy is it a spectacular game with so many software and hardware gimmicks, for better or worse. So yes mostly people are ranting like this is not as good as promised, not a SoR II killer, etc, oh well, I don't know what was exactly promised, as I couldn't care less, but surely this is a far greater game that even WM fanboys expected.Quote:

Huh. I assume this mode was built in for that arcade machine that never got assembled? This is worth investigating. I also remember talk of a 4 player mode,although I find it strange that the game was said to only support 4 player through the arcade stick. Might be something to do with the way it maps inputs? Anyone tried a team player adapter yet?
It also wouldn't be scrutinized to this degree if it had been released in the 90s. I don't even think modern games in modern consoles are scrutinized this deeply.Quote:

Fonzie might have chosen to do a passive AI on purpose because he thought it'd be impossible to deal with this many enemies if they were all smart. It seems like it could be possible that the game is a "badass simulator" where the main character is unstoppable and overpowered and the amount of enemies is so that wouldn't be boring. But the amount of enemies doesn't make up for how bland the enemies moves and AI are. So if that was the intent, it backfired. Or maybe Fonzie couldn't do a good AI and increased the number of enemies to try to make up for it, but that seems unlikely cause as far as I know a big number of on-screen sprites was always touted by him from the beginning.

Yeah, I remember the first time that the Police Chief was shown off, that Rugal image was the first thing that came to mind. Kind of reminds me of this recent Batman cover with Bane punching the ground that is almost a 1:1 replica of a Terry Bogard advertisement.

Wow, I didn't know who Rugal is either, but man they look like clones. Maybe it's some of those sprites made for cheap by uncredited chinese artists.

The funny thing about that jump kick video is you did not even try with it. Run and jump kick was a option in that game and you can even abuse other moves to make the game look like the AI is just garbage. AVP Is another game you can jump kick spam and you might only have issues with the Queen. APC level sure you can not jump kick there but you did prove it was possible so thanks for that.
