I am glad there will be drugs in this game because drugs are pretty cool. Only dweebs don't use drugs. 420 4 LIFE LOL WEED YOLO!
Anyway I was just playing a bit of Cyborg Justice. Gonna have a hard time beating that fine, fine beat 'em up.

ideally a crack/meth fiend as a playable character
DRUGS
Now this all is kind of a fine idea for another game. Well maybe not a fine idea. Dude takes some LSD, has to fight his way through his hallucinations. Oh wait, that's every Mario game ever.
There is no justice for Cyborg Justice.
I was actually playing Cyborg Justice for possible inclusion into an episode about bad games. But in playing it I felt it just wasn't bad enough to include. It's certainly no gem, however. Took me awhile to figure out how to jump over the gap on the first level. And I think the first level is the only place in the game where more than one enemy appears onscreen at once. Plus every enemy (even the bosses) can be defeated with a TAP-TAP-TAP - WAIT - TAP-TAP-TAP punch routine.
^I think I just figured-out what my next game to beat will be. Thanks.
But at least that game runs at a quicker pace. Also doesn't work with more than one enemy on screen. Streets of Rage 2 for the win yo! Yes I am saying that Streets of Rage 2 is BETTER than Cyborg Justice. Booyah!
There's an understatement.
But the question is, is Growl better than Cyborg Justice? Hmmmmmm.........
Single player gameplay wise, and level design wise, I would say GROWL on Genesis is better than Cyborg Justice.
I say they should make a SEGA-16 Brawl game, and create the game using SEGA characters.
If not, then please include Alien Soldier in your upcoming game as one of the fighting characters, I would pre-order that shit right away.
Can't do any of those two, because of copyright.
On that same note, is it safe to assume we can expect some sort of cameo from Pier Solar? Or at least some references?
Yes, I would really like that so I hope we can include something :).
Fonzie recently said on the Magical factory's forum that Project Y's sprite engine will be kick-ass!
Here are the quotes:
Quote:
We're about kick the neogeo's ass with WM's brand new sprite engine and tools :) Stay tunned! Sprite Monger Powa!
Sounds really goooood!!!!!!!!!!Quote:
Yeah, we have to use Capcom CPS2 sprites for testing because SOR3 sprites are too small, no matter the quantity. It's like a cheap breakfast for our engine :) Stay tuned!
Can't wait to see a demo. Fonzie also said that the sprites could be the size of Final Fight characters.
That sounds FANTASTIC indeed! - However, I would like to ask the developers to still keep it down with the sprites. After spending more than half a decade in the Beats of Rage mod scene I have learned that it is indefinitely better to have smaller characters on screen than big ones.
King of Fighters characters are too big. They are fine for bosses or mini bosses but not for the bulk of characters in the game.
- That is why games like SOR2, TMNT, Return of Double Dragon, or Final Fight 2 & 3 are better than Final Fight 1 or any Neo Geo bmup. That is why Guy is more fun than Haggar. It is why Axel and Blaze are generally better than Max.
Streets of Rage 2 is roughly perfect in character to screen size ratio.
I can't wait to see some screenshots of this game.
Sounds exciting. I don't think they'd make them so big as to break gameplay. Sprites can be used for other things as well, such as tons of enemies onscreen in higher difficulties or elements of the background that the player could interact with.
Hadn't noticed much talk about this so thought I'd create a thread! Maybe make it a sticky? Has anyone seen fonz's tech demo :D
Thanks for this. I have high hopes for this game.
Very nice, that actually makes me fairly hopeful for this game. At the very least I know they are going to push the hardware.
Looks interesting for sure!
I remember talking to Fonzie about the possibility of porting my Beats of Rage game to Sega CD and this looks a lot like a continuation or rewrite of the proof of concept sprite demo he came up with back then. Now I am really glad I didn't hesitate to ask :)
Anyway, this thread probably should be merged with http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthr...fficial-Thread
As I said before this is the first Genesis/MD homebrew that I'm really excited about. Can't wait to see more.
It's not a homebrew like Pier Solar, it's made at WaterMelon's (quite new) office :).
Well office brew sounds like a brand of coffee. I guess in retrospect so does home brew.
Now I want coffee.
Oh no, WaterMelon has an office now? That means overhead and sales projections. Before you know it you'll be getting bought by Disney and forced to make Kingdom Hearts - Carz cross overs.
That's great news about the office. Perhaps now you can devote time and effort to a sequel on the Saturn titled Pier Stolar...
Watermelon has an office now? What happened to the days of development over the internet?
Does this mean we can storm the Watermelon offices with torches and pitchforks when we don't get what we want? :)
Fonz is the man
'Homebrew' refers to alcohol. So you can have Irish coffee.
Perhaps WaterMelon can increase their funds through some well chosen spot-placement advertising? You know, instead of a character's smacking the end off a generic bottle and stabbing someone with it WaterMelon could put some fancy scaling to work and zoom in to show the Jameson label--before it's covered in blood. Such an endorsement arrangement would of course lead to free product deliveries at the office, which would improve worker morale and overall productivity.
^Beer, not Whiskey.
Yeah but beer doesn't mix well with coffee. Really, really not.
