I love this thread btw guys. Always interesting to see what random goodies you've snatched up that I've never seen or heard of before.

I picked up a CIB copy of Alisia Dragoon whilst on holiday yesterday.
A lot of fall pickups, already. Went to Cleveland Gaming Classic the other weekend, but most of this actually wasn't from the show.

Knocking a few more off of my Saturn list. The western library is often maligned as crappy, but I love this kinda stuff. I love 5th gen, early 3D, low poly.
Thunder Strike 2 by Core is one I've sought after for some time. When did this simple arcade shoot and blow things up style gameplay become obsolete? Who deemed it shitty? TS2 got high scores from EGM back in it's day. These sorts of games were considered really good... so why do they get slept on and written off so hard nowadays?
Black Dawn is a game by Black Ops which also developed Agile Warrior on the PS (which is another one I really wanna get). Plays very similar, it's almost like a sequel in spirit.
Soveit Strike Sadly relevant subject matter for the day, but I've actually never played any of the Strike series. It looks really cool, kinda like the aforementioned flight based shooters but a top-down perspective.
Tunnel B1 This is an oddity. It suffers from a terrible tittle and terrible 90's cover art, but it's another shooter in a similar vein to Descent but on fixed pathways or... tunnels I guess? It's cool.
Gun Griffon Been on my wish list for ages, looks like a fantastic mech FPS. Way underrated by the Saturn loving crowd. Why does no one mention this game?
Independence Day Way over-hated, has a terrible reputation. It's just another arcade flight based shooter, and I see nothing wrong with it other than being just an average shooter in a market that was kinda saturated at the time. Radical Entertainment sort of began as a peddler of shovelware garbage, but ended on a high note with games like Prototype. ID4 was kind of somewhere in the middle of that evolution.
Slam and Jam 96 I randomly discovered this. Crystal Dynamics made a basketball game? It touts some sim aspects, but this is arcade game at heart. It's face paced, over the top dunks, easy to play, and the third person perspective is cool. If you're tired of the NBA Jam affair, give this a look.
Defcon 5 This is an interesting game. It looks like an FPS, but really it's more of an adventure/survival/strategy type of game. Really unique and ambitious idea for it's time. I don't always like the super cryptic type games, but this one is intriguing.
THE Mansion of Hidden Souls Recently learned that this is NOT just a port of the SCD game. It's kind of a walking sim for the Saturn, and is said to be a bit on the easy side. That's good, because I'm bad at adventure puzzles.
Daytona USA I've had this game for 20 years as a disc only... so now I have a case and manual. Unfortunately not the best version, IMO.

ESPN Extreme Games X-TREME racing on boards, bikes and blades. This would have blown my balls off back in the day, had I owned a PS.
Kileak This is an odd FPS from Japan. Corridor shooting and managing your battery supply, it's weird, but cool. Has a sequel called Epidemic.
Return Fire This is awesome. Just choose a vehicle and blow the fuck out of things, and capture the flag. It's glorious, mindless fun.
Tiger Shark Another little known flight based shooter! This one takes place below (and above) water.
3 Xtreme Trying to get all of these. I've yet to find part 2.
Grand Tour Racing 98 Just another obscure racing game that no one has ever heard of. Very arcade, very 90's, lots of variety, very cool.
Turbo Prop Racing How could you not like a power boat racing game? This was published by Sony. Yeah, a first party game. Interesting.
Bug Riders How could you not want to race giant insects as you whip them to go faster?
Killing Zone I love these early 3D fighters with a roster of odd and bizarre characters.
Rage Racer The last RR game that I didn't have. Some say that this one is actually the best in series, we'll see.
WWF Wrestlemania 2000 The start of my wrestling game collection. I used to play these back in the day, and fell out of them. I kinda now just view these as a type of fighting game. The N64 ones were so damn good, and this was one that I never actually played. There's several on the N64 that I wanna get.
Army Men Air Combat Just a scrolling shooter, spin-off on the Army Men series. Looks solid. I'd really like to get the Sarge's Heroes games.
Wayne Kretzky's 3D Hockey First hockey game in my collection. It's another fast paced arcade game from 90's era Midway. Probably the only Hockey game I'll ever need.
Oops! Prank Party It's just a party game, but I believe it's the last Hudson Soft Wii game I didn't have, so I wanted to snag it. The Wii was Hudson's last hurrah before Konami shat all over and buried their legacy under a landfill of pachinko machines.
Here are some pick-ups from the past few months.
GAIARES just arrived yesterday and I forgot it included a T-Shirt.
Strictly Limited's Panorama Cotton release was a great way to get an expensive game for a normal price. I have the Japanese version but I do like collecting and supporting these licensed re-issues. I hope they continue.
Cleopatra's Curse is a good game. I'm about 50% through and despite the mediocre graphics it's a lot of fun (sometimes a bit frustrating because of the whip mechanic). If there's room for Indie titles in your collection you should watch for the next batch; which is coming.
Andro Dunos II is a good shooter. The games menu and limited options feel pretty basic but the game itself it solid and fun. I still haven't beat level 5 but I found I like going back and replaying the previous levels for high scores. I don't normally bother with scores but I found it was a good option for when I didn't have the stamina to try and tackle level 5 again.
Gear Shifters also feels very basic in areas but the gameplay is good. It's not as good as Andro Dunos II but I am enjoying it so far.

Congrats, bro. 😄👍
Hey, Quick! Long time, bro. Hope all is well.

Mini is cool. Liking it. The controller is the new one from 8bitdo. For Switch. The best controller on the system. Hall effect analog sticks. Bluetooth. Study as can be. better quality than any first-part controller for any console. Macross back buttons and a dock. The mini was great to play Ranger X on an HD screen. Overall games seem to look and run great from what I played tho I think there is a slight sound delay sometimes. Dunno maybe just me. Not played every game quite yet.

Didn't take a pic of the laptop before hooking it up. Sorry.
The Hyperkin clone systems I picked up seem perfectly fine. No sound problems. Visual problems. No lag that I can detect. They don't have a menu for settings or anything. Just Switches for region and aspect ratio. They played all games I threw at them even the LRG Repro of Truxton.
6 MegaCD games to go and that will be system #3 finished. Two holy grails for 32X popped up for sale but well outside of my price range currently (3,700EUR asking price each... way too high).
Picked up one of these... expensive...

Finally pulled the trigger on a long-time holy grail from my wishlist. Powerslave on the Saturn! Saw an opportunity for a fair, not super inflated price and jumped on it. Plus lots of black Friday grabs, and other misc acquisitions including Mercs.

Famicom:
Goonies 1
SNES:
Chibi Maruko-chan Mezame Minna no Island SFC (a mouthful)
Genesis:
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Burning Force
Game Boy:
Looney Tunes
Tower of Druaga
PS1:
Lightning Legend
Namco Museum Vol 4 Japan edition
The Namco Museum was a repurchase, long story short I bought a copy off Ebay years back, dirt cheap as hell...... for good reason, the disc has a flaw underneath and runs only 2 games on the disc, ok 3. Pac-Land, Assault, and Assault Plus worked fine, but Return of Ishtar, Genpei Toumaden, and Ordyne would never load when selected. I've rarely bought anything bad in 18 years buying off Ebay, but the rare times I've had to buy a game again, the second time has always been the charm, and hope it is again.
My wife surprised me with a Jaguar for my 40th a few weeks back. It's a system I've always wanted, but just never picked up over the years, mostly because of rarity and cost I suppose. But now that I have one, I absolutely love it, and wish that I had bought one years ago. My gaming tastes tend to go against the grain though, so I understand why a lot of people aren't into it. But I grew up with the 2600, and love Atari, and I've been having an absolute blast with the Jag.
And the controller feels awesome to me. I know it gets ragged on, but I guess my hands are bigger than average because it feels great in my big paws. I'm also a big fan of the original Xbox Duke controller, so take that for what it's worth. The keypad comes in handy for certain games as well. Doom in particular has the weapon load out for each key which is super handy. I have a few overlays for it, but want to pick up a set of custom ones.

Of the games I've gotten so far, the biggest surprises have been Super Burnout and Val d'Isere Skiing/Snowboarding. Great games that I've sunk hours into. The Wolf and Doom ports are deep and tons of fun. Ultra Vortek is a MK-esque fighter with great controls and atmosphere. The so ridiculously bad it's fun Kasumi Ninja gets all the publicity, but Ultra Vortek is actually a solid fighting game that no one ever talks about.

Nice!
Tempest 2000 is a must own for the console.
I got my Jag (New) for $150, back when they were clearing them out. I also got the S-Video cable and about 25 games.
Very cool, vet. I picked up an s-video connector as well because it only came with an old school RF connector. And Tempest is definitely on my short list. There's a guy on atariage who makes rotary controllers for it. So when I get it, I want to make sure to get one of those to play it right.
I'm the same way with Kaboom on the 2600. I won't play it without the paddle controller, no matter how many times it comes out on a compilation.
That's why I don't really like the Atari Flashback consoles. They won't support the official paddles for those games that should be played with one.
I found this bad boy (PC/PS3) at a thrift store for $12. It cleaned up pretty good!

Nice. I'm a bit of a Jag fan, as well. It just has that coolness factor. The games aren't anything amazing, but I feel they're vastly over-hated by those just looking to rip on something considered a failure in the video game industry. The port of Doom is actually quite good, though it's missing some content. I'm a sucker for low-poly stuff like Iron Soldier and Cybermorph. Behind the terrible frame rate, there's a solid arcade racer in Checkered Flag... it's a much better game on emulators. Atari Age actually sells physical post-retail Jaguar games, including some official titles that were cancelled. They produce brand new copies of said games, CIB no less. There's one that's often touted as being like the showpiece for the console's technical capabilities, Sky Hammer I think? Kinda cool that you can still buy games for the Jaguar.
Probably from AVGN. Mega Man Legends now gets more hate than ever due to his shit review. ( I adore the game btw) Tho at the time and I mean at the time in the early 90s Atari earned the mocking it got. Atari for the last time just could not read the room err the market. Genesis and SNES middle of their war of two beloved consoles and Atari much like 3D0/CDi called those consoles crap. Nothing they showed looked better really and in most cases worse than what people had already. Add insult to injury the thing became a dentist tool.
Over time once the dust settles I think you're right. Few want to go near it and those who have it have a more objective view. 3D0 is bad but not as bad as its rep deserves. CDi tho? eh, I think it remains awful overall. Somewhat similar Saturn has often been seen as one of the worst consoles outside of SEGA circles to me but only in recent years when people discover the Japanese library, they found out how great it is.
Yes, tho I believe most people were not even aware of what Saturn had even in the US. Back in the days when Giant Bomb was good. I remember the early days of Dan Ryckert he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, to say the least, but his limited knowledge of games sounded like every average gamer I ever heard. He had a debate with Brad about worse consoles than N64 and one of his first responses was SEGA Saturn. Of course, Brad and Jeff immediately disputed him as they knew better (GB later held a Saturn stream celebrating it).
Sidenote a true disaster of a console are ones we forget exist like Nuon lol
Those days of the Saturn remind me of what I'd call a stop gap anomaly. Even gaming back then the console was here but it wasn't.
It was like 3DO. Way too expensive for the masses.
Even like the T16/PC Engine. Expensive. The only demo I ever saw of it was at Service Merchandise.
My local Toys R' Us has one in the end cap for a couple of years. It was showing off the CD, which started with Sherloch Holmes: Consulting Detective and later had It came from the desert. I saw the price of the CD add-on and nearly fainted.
This arrived today. I ordered it from Walmart's website on Friday.

NICE!
So, Dusk Diver 2... I accidentally ordered the Switch version during a sale price and now that I have a PS5, I'm kinda regretting it. I figure it's kind of a given that anything on Switch is gonna feel like shit compared to PS5, even smaller budget titles. Debating, is it worth returning it for the PS5 version.
I'd return it and get another game. The first game is decent fun but the second one is bad. Enemies have become full sponges and can take minutes to finish off one enemy. It's like they wanted to make DMC with none of the movesets or combos so you are doing the same dull attack over and over. If you were in my area I'd just hand you my PS5 copy for free lol
On a fluke I found one available on BB this morning. Did I really have to have it? No. What the hell I figured.
Besides the PSP I have never been a fan of Sony consoles but maybe this one will be different.
Thanks Derek!
Get ya some Ratchet and Clank: Rift a Part, JCU. I picked it up for $30 at Walmart.
Ratchet & Clank was normally a fun play but it has been years since I last played it. Since I haven't really followed Sony in ages, I can't even tell you anything else I'd be interested in but this purchase was more of a buy now or when you try again it'll be sold out.
4K HDR Blu-Ray movies and Sony's exclusives were the reason I got it. My PC's are actually better at gaming, for the most part.
One cool thing, well sort of, is that when I turn on my LG CX OLED, or the PS5, that they both turn on together. What really blew my mind, was that I could control the menus on the PS5, using my LG remote. I didn't program any of that.
You guys having trouble actually finding games in your local retail stores? Around here, every big box store and every GameStop has pitiful selection, like it's still pandemic level shortages on physical games. There's just as many empty bays on the shelves as there are games. I've been forced to order most of my PS5 stuff online.
