Lets see. I'm getting a $600 insurance bill from Usaa and then another $600 bill form my landlord. and then I got a notice from Ins saying I have to send them a bunch more paper work ( the same I sent them 6 months ago ) so they don't send my wife back to Sweden. Merry Christmas
I think im going to be having a similar xmas experience to Iron Lizard, the less said the better.
Im actually not doing X-mas this year instead celebrating various fictional holidays I saw on old t.v. shows (namely Festivus), but ill be getting...... A new carburetor for my car yayyyyy! Im tired of my fourty year old clunker of a carb crapping out on my fourty year old clunker of a car. Pushing isn't so fun when the car has 4,860 pounds on you.
Yeah i got a 66 lemans like that. It is cursed. It is the easist car in the word to work on yet it always breaks. No carb problems yet at least.
Lucky. My 69 continental is a real pain to work on. For being one of the biggest cars on earth they really didn't leave you a lot of room under the hood to get stuff done. My problem is mainly that this car was sitting in a junkyard behind the airforce base for 15 years with a half-tank of gas still in it. I dropped the tank and had it acid bathed or whatever they do but it still pushes a lot of crud through the lines. Mix that with a carb that is just begging to die and its an adventure everytime I take her out. So hopefully a new carb and burning through a few more tanks of gas will solve my problems.
Its amazing how the smallest of things can cause such a problem sometimes. I did all I could to simplify things. I converted it a one wire alterntor and got an hei distributor to cut down on the wiring. Im running a not so performance oriented Afb but it is so simple to rebuild and change jets and needles. I love it. If ti gets clogged up just take it apart and put it back togethier. Now If I could just keep that 455 from kiling the trany. Im on number 4. That and I have other more annoying cars to fix :( .
Yea I can already tell your way more mechanically inclined then I am haha. Im the kind of guy that goes out to do something simple, break some other part in the process, and turn a 20 minute thing into a 4 hour marathon. As for carbs, I thought I knew what I was doing as I did a lot of things with my old VW solex carb. Crap was I in over my head when I opened up the carb on my Lincoln and saw more small pieces than I thought possible. After that Im not gonna dig into another carb up for any reason unless zombies are after me or something.
Say do you know of any good and not so brutally expensive car electronics guys around here? My car is supposed to have power everything except a lot of it is completely messed up. Clicking the switch to make the driver side window go down instead makes the back passenger window go nuts and makes wierd noises inside my trunk. My dad and I have tried everything we're stumped and practically broke from these windows :(
It sounds like you have some shorts somewhere or maybe the switch itself is just messed up. Is it one piece on the driver side for all the windows? AS for shops Abc has a good reputation though I can't say for sure. My brother took his 5.0 (now mine) there because he couldnt figure out what was wrong with the turn signal. Turned out the hazards light swich was just barely on. It was ahrd to tell visually. They didnt charge him even though they could have. I have a buddy who is amazing as well. This was the kid who was building transmission out of Legos Technics when he was 5. Ill ask him

Well we just spend 800 bucks to have all of the switch panels sent out to California for rebuilds. The switches are fine and power is getting to all the motors (although some need some more work) so we are stumped. For some reason the last owners went through the door panels and started cutting up and reconnecting wires, which is totally unnecessary but ok. We took it to one shop (The name escapes me atm but its on 22nd east of craycroft I believe) and their lowest estimate was 1,200 bucks, so yea if you know someone that can do it for less lemme know I may have a job for them.
Grr. I hate it when people cut up wiring harnesses. It is just asking for a short.

I actually got my x-mas present last month... AMD X2 60 4000+, 2GB of 800MHz DDR2, 512MB 8600GT, 2x 250GB SATA2 HDDs with 16MB cache, some other tiny things... (flashstick is becuase my little sister wouldn't start asking why his big bro doesn't get anything, and my 256MB one is little.... outdated)
