So after realizing that the Genesis II is poop, I'm going to take the plunge, and buy a "HD graphics" one dirt cheap off eBay. I currently have a SegaCD II, and I think it looks pretty silly paired with a Genesis I, so I think I'm going to pack the SegaCD and Genesis II in my closet somewhere, and pair the new (old?) Gen I with my 32x.
So how many different flavors of Sega's system do you own?
What?! There are some really good Genesis 2 models out there, especially the later models. I have a '96 mainboard and the audio is very close to the early model 1s. You probably couldn't tell the difference unless you were doing an A to B comparison. The later model 2s are easier to mod (for S-video) than the model 1s.Quote:

Yep, that was me. I sold the '93 model on eBay. It distorted everything - even from the TV.

I have a MD2, early one, modded, sounds better than enything else, and 2x no TMSS MD1s, both last of the no-TMSS kind.
I have my main Genesis which I bought at launch back in 1989. I have played probably over 600 games on this unit and it has seen a lot of use. This will always be my main unit to play games on. I have two spare Genesis 1's. One is region-modded to Japan so I can see the crazy "Super 32X" logo on a few 32X games. You haven't lived until you've seen that. Wow. Just wow. This Genesis has TMSS but still has the good audio. The the other spare Genesis does not have TMSS so therefore it makes me feel more 1337, like I am better than other people or something.
I have one non-TMSS MD1 which I got back in 1994 or something. It is regionmodded. I also have a Nomad that was region/OC-modded by TmEE, in exchange for two broken MD1s.
X'Eye, Nomad, three Genesis 1's and a Model 2 packed up at my parents place.
One of those Genesis 1's is the original model I got way back in 1992,
I have a model 2, which is the one I've had the longest. It's actually the second Genesis I ever owned, which I got by trading my original late model 1 for it (a friend liked the old look better, I liked the new look better). It's connected to my Sega CD 2 & 32X. This is the setup I've had the longest.
I have a Nomad that I got from Electronics Boutique when they were on clearance for $50. It never gets used because the cart connector is loose and if you shake it the wrong way, the game resets.
I have two model 1s. One is a bare board (I sacced the shell to make a nifty looking supergun), the other is on one of my Sega CD 1s. I actually do use the bare mainboard one at work, in the break room. I haven't bothered to determine exactly what revisions these are other than they both have TMSS. I use the Genesis1+SegaCD1 the most because I don't have to fool with the third AC adapter.
Aside from those, I have a pile of Sega CDs that are either repaired or waiting to be repaired (or junked). One original and a couple of 2s.
Let's see... I have a Model 1, two model 2s, a Nomad, both models of Sega CD, three 32x's, and an X'Eye, which I use as my main player. I used to have a CDX as well, but I sold it last year so I could buy a Neo Geo MVS setup.
My main Genesis is the early model 1 with no TMSS. I also have a later model 1 lying around. Beyond that, I have a CDX, X'Eye, and Nomad. Fuck model 2 and 3.
Was there an MDII released that ran off a different power adapter to a regular MDII? I came across a broken one in my spares that had a different power socket to all my other MDII's, even though the motherboard is the same model no. Any help on this would be much appreciated, i thought they all ran off the same PSU until i saw this one.
To answer the question, i tend to use a Model 1, mainly for it's looks over anything technical. I do own a lot of MDi & II's mainly because i collect different box variations. I'm looking for a CLD A-100 ATM, i played my mates and the sound was awesome. As soon as i find one that will replace my main set up downstairs.
Only one so far, a Mega Drive I. But I plan on getting a MDII, a japanese unit and maybe a Nomad sometime in the future.
