Anyone own Hellfire and/or Heavy Nova

I have all three Genesis models - Model 1 w/TMSS and 'High Definition Graphics' logo, Model 2 with '96 chipset (and clean audio,) and a Model 3 with a '98 chipset. The weird thing is the music for Hellfire plays at a slower speed on both the Model 2 and the Model 3 (sounds like it's being played at PAL speed.) It sounds just fine on the Model 1, however. As for Heavy Nova, the audio cuts out every so often on both Models 2 & 3 (it's very slight and might not be noticeable unless you're listening through a stereo system.) Has anyone come across this?

Thats weird, ima try playing hellfire on my different systems and see if i notice any differences.

As for Heavy Nova, that game sucks, why are you playing it...I have never had a more embittering experience than when I bought Heavy. The very fact that you are playing this makes me question your sanity...maybe you're hearing things...:p however in all seriousness
my experience is (and I just bought a Genny II, never owned one, haven't gotten it, but my buddies had it) that the Genny II's sound in general is inferior and "sloppier" if that is the word, to the Genesis 1; I don't mean "inferior" as in a sound engineer would moan about, I mean actually, very often distinctly inferior to the Genesis I. The only reason I got a G. II is that it's smaller and much more practical for the 32X.

I second that! Heavy Nova may not be the best Genesis game, but it has a nice soundtrack and plays a lot better than Black Hole Assault IMO.

I couldn't beat Heavy Nova on hard... I kinda even like that game, but I play it for its soundtrack.

And this game has the deepest most ground shaking bass I've heard... my whole room shook so hard when I listened the intro tune for the first time (all the following times I push the bass knobs towards 0db on my eq).

Same here. The game doesn't play that well, but the music is great and doesn't sound like most Genesis games. I'll try to post some samples tonight when I get home.

Micronet is crap.

The music in Heavy Nova is good, and so are the cinemas - which are quite impressive, actually. I'll go so far as to say that the art direction evokes a certain feeling that I like.

But the gameplay sucks, regrettably.

I beg to differ on that.
I must say though that the learning curve is a little bit hard on the boss fights.
But after you master the pile driver and the single and double arm throws you'll start changing your mind.
And when you are able to perfectly perform a hammer knuckle on an opponent (he doesn't have to be weakened or in the red energy zone) you'll start to really enjoy the game.
People just have to give it a chance.

I guess it's possible. Why don't you record a video of yourself NOT getting piledriven over and over?

I think you took that more negatively than it was meant. I'd actually like to see a winning Heavy Nova match.

Heavy Nova seems to be the same speed on both Genesis's, at least on the stage I listened to on your examples above, though the Genesis 2 sounded really staticy. Hellfire is definitely slower on the Genesis 2. What the hell?

Liar.

Everyone knows any move in Heavy Nova other than punch or kick doesn't exist. I mean, you can UPGRADE to the move, sure. And there's a supposed combo to DO the move.....

BUT YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING IN THIS GAME EXCEPT GET REPEATEDLY KNOCKED DOWN AND PICKED UP AND KNOCKED DOWN AGAIN. THE ONLY MOVE I LEARNED WAS "CRY"!

I'm SURE one can perform ALL the moves using the right buttons and D-pad combinations. Except for the "punch-body blow-jab" sequence against AI opponents, I can do every single move in the game. I know being knocked down an and picked up endlessly is frustrating but ---- hey --- somebody's loss, not mine! :roll:

But it seems I'm alone on this subject, as usual when it comes down to this game. So no more words from me until I have an ally.

xbrinkx - man, for this one you just have to crouch in front of him and punch him repeatedly after he throws his punch.

Damn, people sure seem to be really interested in Heavy Nova here. I am the only one that even noticed that the Genesis 2 sucks ass and can't even play back all music at the correct speed.

Play it on a Model 1. Model 2 is obviously too slow for anything.

I guess I'll have to break down and buy it. I wonder if there are other games out there that don't play or sound right on a Model 2...

Make sure you try out a ROM first to see if it's something you'd like.

Joe, do you have Heavy Nova and/or Hellfire to test out on a model 2?

I have them both, but I don't have a model 2.
