Sega switch from using the metallic genesis logo to the vertical red genesis logo?
I'd say some time around 1993.
1994 I believe.
They always used the vertical red logo, people just didn't notice till 1994. :p
The earliest any of my red boxes say is 93.
To be specific, and gathering from old usenet convos I've stumbled upon, it was definitely during the summer of 1993, either in July or August. "Gunstar Heroes" and "Mortal Kombat" came out on the same week in September 1993, and they were "red stripe" releases so that's how I could tell.
The Genesis and Sega CD 2 may have also been released that same summer (dunno if it was then or during the fall), after previously being introduced in Japan earlier in April. The short-lived V.R.C rating system was also simultaneously introduced with Sega's striped re-branding of its packaging.
Stacy Keibler? I'd toss her salad.
Good to know.Quote:

Why did it take a post on salad tossing to instantly grab your guy's attention? I post a lot of informative, trivial stuff..........but unless it ain't about rimming it just falls on deaf ears. :)
Back on-topic, Sega may have possibly debuted its "stripe" packaging scheme at or around the time of the Summer '93 CES (Computer Entertainment Show) in August of 1993. It would make the most sense instead of just debuting it out of the blue. They may have showcased the Genny and Sega CD 2 there as well and released it at that time period as well. Sonic 2 bundle! <Jacky Bryant> YEAH! <Jacky Bryant>
Licking bunghole is a no-no in my world.Quote:

Moving from *THAT* topic.
The stripe had to have debuted with the release of the Genesis/Sega CD 2 systems.

dirt cheap......dirt........dirt road......goin' down the dirt road......dammit I'm thinking out loud again! :p
You seriously need to keep your fetish to yourself.
And Sonic Spinball does suck.
Hmm, that didn't go over well.
TRIVIA: "Sonic Spinball" appears to have been re-released by Sega sometime around 1996, with similar packaging to the original 1993 release (with an ESRB "K-A" rating replacing the original V.R.C rating).........and in plastic box format. Think about it.......plastic box release.......in 1996.......by Sega, who was the one who switched over to cardboard releases in the first place. I saw it at a local game store about a month ago, if I go again I hope, hope they'd let me take a pic of it.
I think about "Sonic Spinball" and I remember how mediocre it is.
I then think about "Dragon's Fury" and I remember that it is pretty awesome.
Before I die i hope to see a mariah sharapova versus Stacy Keibler bra and panties match, then the world would be a better place. Maybe they could start dressed like catholic girls and brush each others hair, then stacy slaps mariah and they start tussling all over the place. Sonic spinball, yeah i tried hard to like it as i like sonic and i love pinball, but no dice
That is quite possibly the single greatest post ever made on the internet.
