Does anyone know if Earthworm Jim 2 is better for Saturn or SNES
Wrong forum. Here is the right one:

And the Saturn version just PWNS teh Sneeze one...
Saturn/Playstation (PAL only)/PC version>>SNES version>>>>>Genesis version.
The SNES version lacks a lot of sound effects that are in the Genesis version.
The saturn version SUCKS! It may have awesome CD quailty music, but the controls in the saturn one are TERRIBLE. Not to mention the game moves to fast, which results into sprites animating WAY faster than they should.
If I were to recomend a version of EWJ 2, I'd get "The Whole Can of Worms" PC portm, but then again, that port is missing the second level "Lorenzo's Soil".
I'm gonna stick with my SNES version. I only played the first level of the Genesis version, and from what I could tell the SNES version was better.
I played the Saturn one on an emulator and didn't notice that stuff, but I guess it might have been slower than real hardware? I'm not sure. The graphics and sound on Saturn seemed way better to me; so I'd suggest that version. It's just the game itself isn't too good, not the "port".
And if it is screwed up like the above poster said, get the SNES or Genesis version. They're the exact same thing except the SNES one has slightly better graphics while the Genesis one has slightly better music. The difference isn't really big enough to care about - get whatever is cheaper.
Thanks for the replies. Anyone know if the saturn version is like the Sega Cd version of part 1. Like the better backgrounds or added levels. Even if the Saturn one moves faster giving more sprites I will blow them away LOL
Trust, me, beating those "Puppy Love" bonus levels are almost imposible because the puppys move WAAAAY faster than any other port.
DO NOT GET THE SATURN VERSION. YOU WILL REGRET IT.
the saturn version does not suck, in my opinion it's alot better then the super nes version. and in reality it is not harder then any of the other versions of ewj 2, it plays smoother , has enhanced graphics and sound.
also the controls are not messed up in it at all. it's pretty much like a ewj 2.5, not really quite up to the enhancements on the original ewj special edition but still good. but the only downside is that the saturn version usually costs quite a bit more then the genesis or snes versions, still worth the buy though.
I will take a look, on ebay and see what I find that is mine price range on all platforms. I would like a Saturn verison just to get more games for that system. I have a alot of SNES games already.
@E_J_F: Have you been playing this on a US 60Hz Saturn?
The PAL version on a stock 50Hz UK console is awesome and the speed is spot on.
Yes, I've been playing this on a US system. First time I've heard of a game that plays better in 50HZ...usualy it's the other way around...
It doesn't matter whether or not Earthworm Jim is better on the SNES or the Saturn. The Mega Drive version is the only game to play and anybody who disagrees with me is wrong.
Really? Thats interesting, I haven't been keeping up with emulation that much but I thought they didn't quite have the bugs worked out regarding saturn emulation. Has that changed?Quote:
