- Each version (Genesis, SNES/GBA, Saturn/PS1/PC) contains a distinctively different background for the first level, "Anything But Tangerines":

- Genesis version was the only version that contained line scrolling in "Villi People" leading me to believe that, like the original, EWJ2 was primarily developed on Genny hardware.

-Saturn/PS1/PC background contains radically different, arguably inferior background in "Puppy Love" stages compared to the other ports. Check first video to see.

If you can, go for the PS1 version. Controls are good, the music is great and it contains all the levels.

One thing that does suck about it is the loading times - they're long for a 2D platformer.

Isn't it obvious EWJ is a Genesis franchise ported to other consoles? The first game was a Genesis game, so obviously a game using a tweaked engine would be built off of that.

I also wouldn't suggest the PSOne version, not because of the hardware, but because of the shitty d-pad.

I thought the PS1 version was released only in the UK?

Yup. Don't like the er, frame-rate either.

It was the closest accessible 32-Bit version of EWJ2 I had to play when I played it though.

Well...aparently it is IF your saturn is 50HZ.

I just played the Saturn version like, last week. And I didn't find the puppy stages to be impossible.

I've never really compared other versions, but I just wanted to throw that out there. The Saturn version is the only one I ever played extensively, partly because I really like the CD soundtrack. I never had difficulty with the controls or anything.

How would find out what mine is at. I am not no Electronics guru, I am IT-Data Security :D

My saturn i got was refurbished from Funcoland back in the day. It has the smaller power button. Not the bigger round ones so I think its a model 1.

US (NTSC) is 60hz, Euro (PAL) is 50hz. Theres roughly a 20% speed difference if a game hasn't been coded specifically for each region.

User error ;)

I dunno, all I can tell you is that I've beaten the game on Saturn. The puppy stages were difficult (and my least favorite part of the game), but far from impossible.

Jerk. All I know is the Saturn version I have plays NOTHING like my SNES version.

For example, in the SNES one, if you hold B and press up, Jim will shoot up. But if you let go of the D-Pad, Jim will start shooting FORWARD, just like in Earthworm Jim 1.

Now in the Saturn version, if you hold B and press up, Jim will shoot up. But if you let go of the D-Pad, Jim will KEEP shooting UP.
