30 hour work weeks are a crime, people should be allowed to work as long as they damn well please.
I work 48 hours a week and it gets the bills paid. It would be ridiculous for me to work a 30 hour work week given the kind of work I do. My longest shifts are on load days in our district and it would be insane to have to hire someone else to handle my work load so I would only have to work 30 hours...especially considering my productivity is completely dependent on how much time I have. The fewer hours i have to do something, there is no way it is going to get done considering that loading product, loading pallets, and what not is all regimented and timed. If I work a 6 hour shift instead of 8 I literally only get 1/3 of the work done. 2/3rds is prep and the most important aspect is finished in my last two hours.
Demanding employers pay workers the same for 10 hours less work a week is insanity at it's best, communism at it's worst. I don't see why the government should ever demand that a country have a certain work week or even minimum wage. Nobody forces you to work for a company, you don't like it, go to college and work somewhere else. I cannot abide by laziness.
This reminds me of so many of my co-workers who always bitch about how hard they work and how little they are paid. Granted, for the backbreaking work they do, the pay sucks. However, I still think they're lazy because I constantly tell them "go to school and get the f outta here" and every one of them is like "i'm not cut out for school" Well, too bad then. I go to college and work full time and I'm still alive. Granted, my class load from semester to semester has been very inconsistent but my commitment to my education is ceaseless, I don't care how long it takes it will get done. It's not so hard.
