I think you just answered your own question. Plus my spider senses just tell me that it's a bad idea to give money to people for something they might do eventually. With all these hundred thousand dollar projects going on it will probably attract scammers like flies to shit (if it hasn't already). Of course Kickstarter gets their 5% no matter what as long as the goal is met. To me the whole thing is like riding in a car with only one lug nut holding a front wheel on and saying "maybe everything will be OK".
Eventually I think someone will take the money and run, and Kickstarter will get their asses sued. I doubt all that BS they spew, like how people are backing projects and not purchasing anything, to dodge accountability will hold up in court either. Just my opinion.
