I'm with you. Absolutely no credit cards, and no bills or payments larger than a single paycheck. And it's funny how we all used to joke about TV rotting your brain. Now I think it's really doing it. I wouldn't mind having PBS though. I miss PBS. I'm going to build me one of those homade HD antenna's and see if I can pick it up.

We keep credit cards, we just keep their limits well below our monthly income and pay them off more frequently than once a month. Discover gives us $50 gift cards every six weeks this way. Somehow this has worked for over five years without a hitch. But if I go one month without being able to pay off the cards I'll cancel them all and move to cash envelopes immediately.

Build an HTPC and get an HD antennae, you'll never look at cable again.

I haven't watched TV in 2 years; it's absolute shite. I don't miss it in the least.

I haven't had any kind of TV service in almost five years. I can't believe it's been that long. Now when I go to someone's house and they're all sitting around watching commercials, I start to fidget and have to leave after about fifteen minutes.

That sounds exactly right. We cut off the cable about five or six years ago, but for some reason my wife decided that Hulu Plus was necessary and still doesn't mind commercials. They make me crazy, and when people are just loitering with the tube on I can't do anything but think of a way to leave.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I would expect he'd be back by now. He's most likely on some other forum with a different username. ( though it wouldnt be too hard to tell if somebody was him just by what they post about. hehe)


Or maybe he just stopped using the internet because its "too modern" for him. After all, people didn't have internet access in 1964.
