Speaking of the Jaguar console itself,
I mean I'm not from your neck of the woods but I would have thought with the "Atari" name it would have made more of a dent in the market. But I guess by that time that particular brand didn't mean that much especially with the 90's gen kids more interested in the "cool" Sega and Nintendo products?
And of course the games themselves didn't inspire much either at the time.
I remember seeing the do the math commercials when I was younger, I don't remember me or any of my friends talking about the Jaguar or wanting one.
790 Meg my ass. Theres no way they used special 99 minute CDs on something like that.
Oh not this again
This "zero presence" thing happens a lot in the industry.
You know in the prime of the 6th gen(1999-2006), I didn't know a single kid who had anything other than a PS2? I'm serious. I saw hundreds of PS2s, yet not a single GameCube, Xbox, or Dreamcast.
The last few posts regarding the Jag made me go and dust off the old fella. :p
Hadn't turned that system on in ages.
Still works fine though. And I must be one of the few that have never had a problem with the Jag CD. Mine's a real trooper. Reads all music CD's and Jag CD games, first time every time. And of course for it's day the VLM light show was almost worth the price of admission by itself.
Found as well my controller extension cable.
Wife and kids are off shopping. I'm all set. :p

Out of curiosity how's the Jaguars 6 button controller compare to its 3 button controller?
^^
Not only are the extra buttons useful in a number of games (some were made with this controller in mind), but the new buttons and d-pad have a better feel and response, plus the cable is longer which is never a bad thing.
The game I'm playing now (Atari Karts) the left and right shoulder buttons help in cornering. I much prefer playing it with this rather than the 3 button controller.
This is more fascinating than I thought, I love how they check if their stone pick can compete with a knife:
