I fapped.
Also surreal to see in print that the $2 sports games and shitty licensed games were just as much back then as they are now... more expensive, if you account for inflation.

Have you heard of L'Abbaye des Morts? its another ZX Spectrum styled game. I've played it countless times on different platforms.
I don't give much sympathy. If they even have an online store, then no one knows about it. If you don't adapt, you die.
Very true, Yharnamresident, but it's the nostalgia that gets me. That advert at Christmas time...(sighs)
My WiiU died. I keep forgetting to bring in my voltage tester from my work truck to see if it’s the console or just the power supply. Hopefully it’s just a coincidence that this happened so soon after taking it apart and putting it back together (I thought there was a disc stuck in it).
My take is Toys 'R' Us philosophy was to be a physical location that kids can go to see and touch an an object of imagination and play that parents can also be participant in as well as maybe of a memory they too had as young child.
Edit: It also been said that this is a wake up call for toy manufactures.
BTW They do have a web site. https://www.toysrus.com/
^ The site won't be up long. They are canceling peoples online game pre-orders for games.
The last thing I bought from them was Dragon's Dogma. Everyone was sold out at the time of launch. Before that probably 2007 I actually went into one of their stores. For whatever reason, I just figured they would always be around.
But thats 80s, 90s, and 2000s kids. I was one of them, I grew up on Lego and Knex.
The sad reality is that is a niche nowadays. Kids nowadays care about smart phones and tablets and 3DS. But I do think Toys R Us would've lasted a bit longer if they made an effort with online shopping, I know some companies like keeping it old school but that just won't last.
My wife and I were just talking about this. Online shopping is killing speciality shops like TRU and others, but Wal-Mart and Target are driving just as many nails into the coffin.
Holy hell Monster Boy pre-orders Switch is outselling the PS4 version 10-1. All these 3rd party games big and small always seem to do well on Switch. Devs keep coming out how well everything is selling. Maybe the 3rd party curse f not selling on Nintendo consoles is broken?
Shit, 'ol Thief didn't last long in his recently unbanned incarnation. Obviously something went down in the afterlife thread that tipped Bonuskun over the edge, but I don't think I'll bother stepping in there. As arresting as the subject is, I promised myself not to engage in tinderbox topics like that on a gaming forum ;)
