Any news? Cats are curious and adventurous animals. They will sometimes disappear for days at a time before returning home. When I was a kid we had a cat that we all loved very much called Patch. One day Patch just disappeared and could not be found anywhere. We all feared the worst until, I kid you not, a week and a half later he just appeared in our back garden again! He was dirty and had a few scratches, presumably from fighting other Toms, but was otherwise fine and he just sat there looking at us all through half slitted, bored eyes lol! Your cat knows where his home is, SciFi. Just like Arnie, he'll be back.

We have tried and tried and tried to get our stupid cat to wear a collar. Most cat collars these days are “safety” collars that will pop open if they struggle too hard. My cat will ditch those things on his own with no problem. The last time we tried, we got a little dog collar that he seemed okay with for a couple days. Then he got it caught around his mouth and fought it so hard that he made himself bleed, and in his panic he scratched my wife all up as she was trying to free him. He’s chipped, but that only helps if they get picked up and scanned.

I’m relieved your friend came back, but my cat judges both of us for our petty human problems, as well as our futile attempts to contain the savage animal power of himself as his feline brethren.

Can get cats RFID chipped (via injection). While in Toronto recall seeing an RFID truck making the neighborhood rounds just for this. Personally would not support this, it's a slippery slope.
