QuickSciFi, have you, in your internet travels, happened to come across a fairly new retro game gameplay channel called “Retro Replay?”
It is hosted by Troy Baker and Nolan North (for those not in the know, these two guys are two of the biggest voice actors in cartoons and gaming. Troy Baker is the current voice of Joker, I think, and Nolan North is Deadpool in every version not played by Ryan Reynolds. But those two roles are barely scratching the surface of the amount of voice work they do.
Everyone feel free to go check it out and form their own opinions, but it isn’t nearly as good as it probably should be. For one thing, it is VERY produced, and the cynical part of me believes that it’s less a passion project and more of a cash-grab. Their mission statement is to play games that their audience probably never heard of... so they play Ninja Gaidem, Punch-Out, Double Dragon, etc...
And it’s also disappointingly unentertaining. It’s basically two guys taking a full half hour to get through the first stage of Ninja Gaiden, while making fun of each other in a variety of voices. Occasionally there’s some talk about their work (which is interesting), but for the most part it plays like improv comedy b-roll.
Curious if anyone else had stumbled upon it.
