Reading the complaints about the heat got the Kool and the Gang song "Too Hot" stuck in my head.

Thursday and the heat is still the same, they say it might rain in the evening and usher in a slightly less hot week to come.
So..

The shows were made with samples from audio libraries from usually decades before the show was filmed, and made for people who wouldn't know or care about something like that. On the opposite end of the scale, Big Bang Theory actually used an N64 emulator, with the appropriate Mario 64 sounds, when talking about playing it. I suppose at the time, viewers would have been upset if it had been Donkey Kong 2600 audio.
You could probably count on one hand, the number of people involved in the production, who would know this, and they were probably the catering staff or something.Quote:
Also, when mum switches the games off, she just switches the telly off? Why do the kids go nuts? They just need to press pause!
Remember, if you forgot to bring your hazmat suit with you to the grocery store, just scream some Marxist chant while picking through the produce. Seems to work in major cities for less legal activities than inspecting tomatoes.
I know. I just got totally blanked by the Cat. My fragile ego can't handle this rejection! (takes deep breaths into a paper bag before screaming into a pillow) That's better. :)
On the subject of video games and TV shows I remember watching some show once where one of the characters was having PTSD flashbacks from his time in the army. The sound effects were literally lifted directly from the original Command & Conquer. It was hilarious hearing all the scream samples, gunfire and explosions from the game as this guy looked haunted. I kept expecting the show's sound guy to fuck up and to randomly hear EVA say in her robotic voice "Construction complete. Building. Unit ready. Our base is under attack." :D
I've actually been playing the remastered version of that, they did a really great job.

Atari is out of their minds! $700 in Aussie money so what...$500 in the US? You shitting me?!
Yeah...who asked for this?
They really did. I would go so far as to say that Command & Conquer Remastered is right now the best example going in how to lovingly update and remaster a classic game and do it perfectly.
(reads Leynos' post and related article) Yes, I would say that Atari have lost the fucking plot. With that price tag that thing is going to bomb harder than the Jaguar ever did.
I love Atari, I really do. but why do they keep thinking that they can beat Sony and MS with their library of 2600 titles?
Seriously Atari, you don't have the AAA IPs to make this thing stand out. they should have made this thing compatible with Steam or something.
That or just scale down the hardware so its not 500 bucks anymore and then add their own Atari Shop to it where you can buy the old 2600/5200/7800/Lynx/Jaguar/ST games and maybe remakes. (California Games remake anyone?)
But yeah, they don't offer anything worth 500, this is going to be an even worse disaster than the Jaguar.
Exactly. If Sega themselves, with their incredible market presence, had to throw the towel in back in 2001 with a console as beloved as the Dreamcast, what in the name of Satan's ballsack do Atari think they're gonna accomplish in the year 2020 against the might of Sony and Microsoft using a back catalogue of 2600 games?! It's beyond insane.
At this point they should just throw everything out but the shell and release their own "Classic Atari" console, loaded with a ton of games and some unreleased stuff like Thea Realm Fighters. (though they'd have to finish it first)
I'd buy it if it came with the best Atari stuff. could even put their best Arcade games on there.
