You still hung up on that? Actually 6 was pretty damn awesome. I loved all the secrets and hidden paths. I'll give it all the props you want, but 4 was just too unbalanced, full of slow down and cheap hits. Most of the levels had crappy graphics and boring design. There were a few awesome exceptions like toad man's and skull man's stages, but they just made crap like drill man's stage stand out all the worse. The slow down, cheap hits, and crappy graphics really hit drill man hard. And you want to talk about ridiculous character names, ring man? dust man? (Actually I think capcom had been having contests for the boss names since MM3 so you can blame some kid in japan for all of them lol) I thought MM5 was better balanced and more consistent in quality. It also had some really neat stages like gravity man's. Whenever I think of MM5 I think of gravity man's stage. (sull man's for 4) Both games are good, but not the best. I consider MM5 the better of the two though. MM2 is my favorite of them all though, disappearing blocks and all.Quote:

For me, what makes or breaks a Mega Man game are the bosses and the music. With the exception of Gravity Man and Napalm Man (who were great), I thought the bosses in MM5 were pretty lame. And the music, with only a few exceptions, was very disappointing.
Mega Man 6 also had some terribly inane bosses (Plant Man, Centaur Man, etc), but this is the only game in the last three of the NES series that stood out with its gameplay mechanics and stage design. Plus, the music was pretty good.
I thought MM4 had some pretty great bosses overall (Dust Man should have been called something different). Ring Man was kinda silly, but at least his stage made more thematic sense than Top Man. And, as I've said before, I love the music in #4 from start to finish (Ring Man excluded).
Not judging you for your preference, but I thought MM5 was the most glaring example in the series of Capcom just going through the motions.
