General Game Comment Thread. What are YOU Playing Today?

Currently addicted to Call of Duty:WW2 on my PS4. Easily the best COD since Modern Warfare. I stopped playing them after that when they got all sci-fi and futuristic. Now we're back to good old fashioned WW2 battles with good old fashioned WW2 weapons. None of this jumping through and off walls shit with cybernetic upgrades bollocks, just good old fashioned warfare. As well as the online multiplayer I have to say that the single player campaign is excellent and the end is very moving. I actually almost shed a tear at the end. Now for a bloody Call of Duty game to make me feel emotional is quite an achievement!

This one is almost done, another playthrough or two should do it. Played it a few times yesterday and in the last playthrough of the day reached Final Boss.

Not only that, your argument about the trigger buttons being more ergonomic on the Xbox One just became completely irrelevant in my eyes. There is absolutely no contest. There is way more access to the R1/R2 buttons with your index and middle fingers on the DS4 while keeping your thumb on the right analog stick and on the Xbox One controller. Still intend on doing a full controller breakdown with pics showing various hand grips/angles and explaining it all. Once I get off my lazy butt, that is. Also might as well wait for that new hori dual shock 4 gamepad to arrive in the mail this month.

Remember last time I played this only up to the 4th stage boss, he kicked my butt and I quit. Fast forward to today, finally reached that part again and got my butt kicked... however, I'm a little more determined now. Not sure if I'll 1cc this game, but hoping to at least git gud enough to beat it. If not, I'll just ask MrMatthews to beat it. :p

1cc a beat-em-up? I don't know about that one. I have both Batman Returns and Mighty Final Fight, though. Maybe I'll give them a shot.

If memory serves, don't you pretty much have to 1cc Batman Returns? Do you have lives in that one?

It honestly looks like he just winged it and is just good enough to do so, really didn't get any ideas from that other then spamming my special A+B cape move at the cost of one measly life bar more often. The batarang tosses already tried but are hard to land. However did notice something, the guy had an extra life box located above the score and that would really help since I get there with barely any health to even practice the boss. So rewinded the video until the point he gets it, but there must be something else to it because all I keep getting is life refills (maybe full health is required by then for it to work, as the moment he gets it he scores 40 000 points which automatically filled his health at the same time, since every 10 000 points refills your health). The 1up system in this game is weird as it doubles for a health bar extends too, meaning if you loss health below it, you can still get health pick ups above it.


As for Mighty Final Fight; that's very 1cc-able and was quite fun to do so once you get into the game more. Can also get one or two 1ups in each of this game's two bonus stages;

With Guy my trick was to only get between 16-17 for the single 1up, as getting all 20 barrels with Guy is too hard since his standard attack is like the E. Honda's hundred hand slap, which keeps him standing in one spot for too long to get them all (unless I use jump attacks, but never tried the timing with that). Only once got them all with Cody. There's also a chance to randomly get 1ups during the game too, so lots of cushion for the push'in. Why I say this would be a very good game to 1cc, just take it easy and chip away at it in small dosses.

If you want any tips on the bosses, ask away.

Played so much Batman Returns NES on my PSP yesterday that it's battery died. What else to do but plug it in and game on. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Some interesting things discovered about the game and PSP itself. First about the PSP;
- seems beat 'em ups are a great way to reveal some weaknesses in gamepads. As since playing Mighty Final Fight almost thought for a sec that maybe I was having eaten inputs on my jumps when set up SNES style (X for jump & Square for attack). But then thought maybe it's because my thumb is not perfectly flush with the face of the PSP in how I hold it, so switched jump to Triangle. The problem was still there and you won't believe what the issue is. The face buttons on the PSP are capable of slanting too much and when this happens, feather taps don't register. Meaning you can press a button, feel it click in and nothing. Was the cause of so much frustration in MFF & BR, as it likes to happen in tense moments.
- The D-Pad wobbles too much too for tighter/quicker back and forth motions.

All those issues only compound to the jank factor of BR. I'll reveal some discovers about the game next time (including a trick around this game's lame continue system for better practice sessions). Otherwise am very close to a 1cc having beat the game 3x already, with only stage 4 boss holding me back.

Just finished Ghost Blade HD again in normal mode on the PS4, and now I tried the Dreamcast version and it looks horrid. :?

It looks terrible in normal mode. It is only playable in TATE mode and if you tilt your TV, that is. No way to change the D-Pad to horizontal (not that I would want that, anyways). But also, the game doesn't allow for screen size/position settings, and it is broken from the start. I don't want to change the settings on my TV just to play one game.

Oh well, at least it's great on the PS4. It's as if Tulio intended this to be an arcade cab first and foremost.

^ I think Hucast did Ghost Blade, along with the various iterations of DUX. Tulio is just publishing I believe.

Apart from dabbling in a few shooties myself, I also started up the PS3 version of Dragon's Crown after many years of, well, not. It does what it says on the tin and the graphics are for the most part pretty mind-blowing. I'll probably enjoy this for a while, although the cursor you use to interact with things feels a bit clunky next to the beat 'em up gameplay.

I did change the defaults so at least I have digital control for movement now though. That's obviously a must.

Got it. I'm sure it was probably meant to be played on an HD TV.

But alas, that's all I focused on yesterday evening, invading and getting invaded. Along with drinking wine and getting high. Good times, good times. ... until the vodka got cracked near midnight and put me over the edge to crawl into bed.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Amazing, but they need a performance patch for portable mode. If the floor was 480p, that would smooth things out a bit. Plus, that sharpness filter needs to be drawn back.

Ittle Dew 2+ on the Switch. I thought it was going to be a cake walk. But now I'm stuck on the boss rush of the 8th raft piece. I'm beggining to wonder if I rushed it and now I need to grind some hearts or something. I need to find a way to beat this fast. I keep getting killed by the previous to last boss (just before the old dude). Any help would be greatly appreciated

Those Triangle Service shmups are kicking my arse! Deltazeal is vicious.

MD Kuyukyoku Tiger is tough as hell on defaults (Hard A, as it's known). Undead Line is gentler on default settings than this murderous shooter, at least I've cleared most of that game anyway, but this :| I struggle to clear the second stage, no kidding.

Dragon's Crown has so far failed to keep my attention unfortunately, so putting that aside for now.

Currently playing through Breath of the Wild. Wow, what a refreshing experience. Such a good game. Also playing Unreal Tournament'99 (PC), which is a blast now, nearly 20 years later.
