Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, alternately, to kill time rather than myself.
Magforce Racing-Dreamcast
Yeah, it's a budget Wipeout. Not bad. Handling could be better. Menus seem oddly modern. Not the most graphically impressive game on the system but whatever. I will have fun with this until Grip arrives.
GRIP Combat Racing.
This game is fun but it has flaws. It is a budget game but you know what. I'm giving some of those flaws a pass and not just because it's an indie game. It honestly just reminds me of racing games of the late 32-bit era on PS1 and early 2000s PC. Rollcage being the most obvious comparison and Wipeout. Rollcage I like to look at more as in that era we got a lot of smaller budget arcade racers and a lot of future racers. As above I recently played Magforce on Dreamcast. This kinda stuff. Not the most polished but it is fun. A little grit but kinda charming for it. It could use more flash to the tracks and some tighter courses. I hope they make a sequel and improve on it. Even if this has some rough edges I like to see arcade racers esp seeing this is a port of a PC game reminds me of the era Dreamcast was getting all these neat middleware PC ports. For whatever that's worth adds to the charm for me. I know there is better on the system as Fast Racing Neo exists on a smaller budget than this. Whatever I welcome more games like it. Look forward to Xenon Racer!
I'm going to be hosting a pinball party soon, so I've been refamiliarizing myself with some games and familiarizing myself (for the first time) with some others. Let's see if I can remember all of them... Dragon's Fury, Digital Pinball: Last Gladiators, Hyper 3-D Pinball, Cyborgirl, Deep Sea, Rollerball, Flipnic, Pinball Hall of Fame, Pro Pinball: Fantastic Journey, Enigma, Crash & Burn. Maybe one or two more. Also played some Bubble Bobble Double Shot but wasn't impressed with it.
SNK 40th Anniversary Collection.
I beat Athena and working on Psyco Soldier atm.
Fast RMX.
Christ this game is great. It's not WIpeout but more F-Zero with Ikaruga elements. The boost strips are determined by color and you have to change your color to blue or orange to get the boost. If you are the wrong color you slow down to a halt. The sense of speed is dizzying. They got the announcer from the SEGA developed F-Zero GX. It's very welcomed as arcade announcers esp in racing games are something I miss. The enthusiasm makes me pumped for another race! Shin'en are technical wizards. I don't know how they pull these games off on such limited hardware. With some minor tweaks, this game would not look out of place on Xbox or PS4. A true testament to their ability. Top it off they have the game running at 1080P 60FPS. I may post screens later but sadly Switch can only take 720P screens.
Last Guardian on PS4. I've had the game on my shelf for about a year but only now just started to play it over the weekend. I like the atmosphere of the game as a whole, but the controls are very iffy as the little boy character's physics are very rag doll like and seemed delayed on the responses from the controller. Also like most of the game from the ICO house, I always have issues knowing where I'm supposed to go next and that can be frustrating as well. Most of the time I figure out where to go only because while riding on Trico he does an action on his own to clue me in. That might be the way it is supposed to work, but then it just makes me feel like Trico knows how the get out of the ruins already and why don't we just do that already?! LOL...
Not so much as playing as I am test running. I have over 400 hours logged in Warframe on PC but the Switch version came out today. I wasn't going to play this version until I heard it's the only version you can copy your PC account to. So I did. Panic Button did an amazing job all things considered but there is no reason for me to play this on my TV. As much of a wonder, this is even running on the Switch. It looks good for this system. It's still rough in areas and FPS is cut to 30. So it's better if you need your Warframe on the go, not so much on TV. Sticking with the PC version overall tho.
Tried to play Red Asphalt, but starting to realize there's a lot of ps1 games that don't work on PS3. At least not on mine. So I fired up a game called Motorhead. It's okay so far.
R-Type Dimensions
I played some of Red Dead Redemption 2 and was soundly amazed at the enormous world and also annoyed at some control issues and the lack of an always-visible map. It's definitely not as fast-action as GTAV, but I think a certain type of gamer (one with lots of time on their hands and affection for the Western setting) should enjoy it.
Also playing the Shenmue remaster on PS4 and it's... slow. Like there's things to do, but the story is leaving me cold and slightly bored. I think I'm gonna give it a few more shots, because in what other game can you win a Nack the Weasel keychain in-game?
Of course, it's a slower pace. It's an Adventure game with some QTEs. It's considered the first chapter of many and it's a slow burn, I prefer the slower pace but it does pick up in the final hours of the game as it builds up to it. It's not for everyone but Shenmue is fantastic. The second game is much more highly paced esp when you get to Kowloon. The series is built on patience tho.
