Started up LBX for 3DS because I miss Custom Robo, but it's a paltry replacement.
Right now, playing Fallout: New Vegas on the PS3. I thought this one was supposed to be shorter than Fallout 3...
Waaaay too many sidequests. I'm loosing track of why I'm here. ;)
They're pretty good, I admit. I'm just feeling overwhelmed atm.
I've been playing a lot of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer for quite some time now. Again (4th return). To the point that I don't really play anything else while in this ME3mp phase. Lately been playing with friends I've meet on the forum. If anybody here play this game, let me know. I have an account for all 4 platforms it was released on.
Yes, StHA is really good. Best RPG on Saturn. (Everybody else says PDS, but I don't see it that way)
As for grinding in SitD. Well that's what you get for using online maps and gridpaper. I played without those, and never had to worry about grinding because it would get done as I was exploring and trying to memorize the dungeon layout with just my mind alone. Which is good, because I too can't stand forced grinding in RPGs. This is also like my fave Genesis RPG. Playing a dungeon crawler without a map was such a new RPG experience for me and so awesome, that right after I went to try another one like it. Phantasy Star 1. So yes, StHA having a map is not exactly a positive. Ditto for Super Metroid VS NES Metroid (why I'm glad a fan created a no map version hack for Super Metroid).
been getting into batman on tg16. i am finding it really fun for some reason. it's also a game that me and the gf's kid can play and she is like into it. she tried the nes one but that was too hard (shes like 4 i think). but back to batman this game is pretty ok, not nearly as bad as I had heard and i am enjoying it a bit more then the genesis version.
Was playing and enjoying Uncharted on PS3 until I got to the third level. After having to fight the third bland wave of dumb bullet sponge enemies with the most unoriginal shooting mechanics I've played in a game in a while, I turned the game off. Which is a shame, as the rest of the game is great (graphics, story, characters, cut scenes).
Just wish the gameplay wasn't so dull. So I put on Metal Gear Rising instead. This game is fricking amazing. I'll go back to Uncharted when I feel up to it.
Playing some of the games I missed from Nintendo's most popular franchises recently:
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Wii: Been spending a lot of time with this one lately. It's the third Zelda game I've ever played (the other two being A Link To The Past and Wind Waker) and the first one I'll ever finish. The controls are super broken, the camera is frequently a huge problem, and the underlying game mechanics are thoroughly mediocre, but I've really been enjoying this. I really like the atmosphere, story, and sense of exploration, it's a lot like Metroid. A solid 8/10.
Super Mario Galaxy - Wii: Just popped this one in a few hours ago and... Well, the music is really good. Mario just doesn't work in 3D. At all. The controls are total shit, the camera isn't much better, and I'm just not having very much fun at all so far. Think I'll stick to 3D Sonic games from now on, thank you very much. Haven't played enough to really give it a fair rating, but this is probably a 5/10 game at best for me. There are a lot of platformers on the Wii that are way better than this.
I am so tired of ~retro reviewers~ pumping up the price of some games. Not Mark Bussler though I like Mark.
Musha Aleste NA was a $120 game on ebay not even 3 years ago, now it's $450
I can't believe this. I thought the genesis was safe from this for a while; I might have to go to a swap meet or hope for a decent deal to appear.
also it's been a while since I was here.
interesting you say that musha is so much more expensive, is there a set limit you would pay for it? Like is the 120 acceptable but anything else over not? just wondering as i see the prices fluctuate and really, the buyer sets the market, but usually there are people who will pay the 450 for musha because it's worth it to them. wouldn't be to me.
It's not so much the price is high moreso that the price was significantly lower not even 3 years ago and mass exposure made it rise.
Too answer your actual question though: I wouldn't drop more than $250 on any retro game even if I understood why it was higher. I have an Everdrive MD for those games.
right on, you are far more into retro gaming then i. the most i spent was like 120+ on baseball stars 2 for neo geo. i just dropped 400 on ps4 cod bo 3 bundle and ufc 2 and even then, i was second guessing my purchase. still am!
good choice on everdrive! best way to experience games you wouldn't normally be able to.
If I ever collect of Neo Geo I'll probably save up the money for the Analogue MVS. I probably wouldn't invest in AES even I could afford it.
^I feel the same way. The thought of never being able to own more than 3 AES games would defeat the purpose. Buying a multicart would also defeat the purpose.
Got that troublesome middle gear replaced in one of my CD-ROMē units.
So now that it's working, I've been messing around with a bit of Fatal Fury 2.
The load times are a little annoying, but it looks better and plays smoother than the other console ports of its day.

just started playing dragon age, inquisition on ps4. i wanna like it but damn, the combat is bad though (imo), maybe it'll get better as i go and get powered up.
may start the witcher on ps4 next as well.
Just whacked Tekken Tag on the PS2 HDD today. It's the first game I got for it and the first time playing it for about fourteen years, it still looks great too.
Civ V for the last three days, that pesky Poland hiding away on it's own little island was a pain in the rear to get at. Domination victory by 2031, won't be starting another game on that for a long time.
Duke Nukem Forever - PS3
I was actually having fun...
Even the fucktard platforming levels I despise in FPS games were alright. But that Generator Room Boss Fight...
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!! !!!
After finishing the Far Harbor DLC for Fallout 4, I've started a new playthrough of the game.
I am currently greatly enjoying Kirby: Planet Robobot, which is good, as it was the first 3DS game I bought completely new in over a year.
I really tried to like Metro 2033 (Redux). Was I doing it wrong? I just wanted to go for the FPS (Spartan) experience; instead, I got the cheap man's Fallout experience. Seriously, all I wanted to do was go out and shoot some monsters. If it's not going to be a full-on FPS-RPG, then why drag...sooooo....loooooong....:?
I promise I'll try better next time...
Sorry for the late reply, I must have missed it! I finished the entire game back in december last year and didn't look at it up until the release of Far Harbor last May. I put about 20-25 hours into Far Harbor (with my old character) and after finishing it, I jumped right back in with a new playthrough. It was a fun distraction, but I haven't finished it for the second time, yet. I'll probably get back into it at some point, maybe when Nuka World is released. Up next:

I just finished Gone Home on PS4 for the first time a few days ago and am now on my second playthrough to see what I missed the first time. I absolutely love this game. I can't remember the last time a game stuck with me the way this one has so far. Don't expect a monster/ghost game with lots of jumps - it's all about the characters and their backstories. I thought the voice acting was both touching and amazing. Some people say 20 Euros is way too much for an indie "walking simulator" game you can finish in 1-2 hours, but I remember paying a lot more than that for Mega Drive games I'd finish under an hour. For me, it was totally worth it. In fact, I've just ordered a physical collector's edition of the game for pc. Up next: Firewatch for PS4.
I think I finally have proof that retro video games were meant to be kept in their game boxes. You see, with Master System, Turbografx 16, Game Gear, Sega 32X, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy/Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance games, there are no end labels and I think that is because they wanted you to keep the boxes. I personally kept my games in their boxes because it makes it that much easier to store and find them (except with games like Earthbound where the box is too big) and when my kids were old enough to buy games, I told them to keep the boxes. I wonder why no one wanted the boxes.
^So... What are you playing today? ;)
'Just tried Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3. Let me rephrase that: I have been trying to play Gran Turismo 6 for the past 24 hours. Still getting the message: "Update preparation in progress". 'Never really liked any of these shitty Gran Turismo games. I think I have honestly managed to extract just about zero joy out of them all. Fuck this shit, it's going back on the shelf.
Just about to do another Quicksearch for ME3mp.
Is it just me or does the Ogre Battle series has a lot of references to songs from Queen's first five albums:
1. Ogre Battle
2. March Of The Black Queen
3. The Prophet's Song ("listen to the word the seer he says" the game starts up with the seer asking you questions, that you must read/listen to)
4. Seven Seas Of Rhye (Rhyan Sea)
5. See What A Fool I've Been ("well she's gone dear gone this morning" the Fool card makes all the enemies leave the leader)
6. Teo Torriate (Let Us Cling Together)
Also, If you add up every single track on their first 5 albums (counting A Day At The Races intro) and add the popular tracks from Flash Gordon (Flash, Football Fight, The Hero, Flash Reprise, and The Hero) and you get 64, which somehow connects to Ogre Battle 64.
1. Outrun which exposed my genesis faulty sound.
2. Road Blasters
3. Streets of Rage
4. Sonic 1
5. Sonic 2
6. Road Rash
Was sick today and had to call into work so I made the most of my day.

The last couple weeks I've been playing Dragon Warrior IV, it is a chapter based RPG for the NES, although this game is old and I was into Dragon Warrior games , for whatever reason had no interest in the game. Turns out the last chapter (what I'm assuming is the last chapter), you can't directly control the party's actions, it took a while to get used to. At first this moderately upset me, I felt it took away from my ability to strategize during the battles. Turns out I was wrong, I found I have to keep changing their tactics (behaviors), depending on the types of enemies. if anything it adds to the strategy, you have to learn their behaviors for each settings, and then choose the settings based on their needed behaviors. I grew to like the battle system, the music is alright, but I don't see myself looking for an NSF file or listening to the OST on youtube.
Playing the Nuka World add-on for Fallout 4 atm. No spoilers, but just a word of advice: don't buy it now. Wait a good amount of time - it's buggy as hell. Even for Bethesda standards. Grab it when it's patched.
Shit I'm dealing with, no spoilers:
- Massive mis-placed textures in rooms.
- Opening sequence is broken.
- Invisible walls everywhere.
- Crash to desktop trying to get to certain areas.
I was able to get past a few thanks to being on PC and having access to the debugger tool. If you're on consoles, yeeeahhhh... Avoid. At least for now.
Just played a bit of good old worms on the Genesis 2 :-)
^I didn't know that got a Pal release. You are talking about a Pal release, right?
Worms was PAL-exclusive on the Mega Drive. It's a fairly passable port, nothing to write home about. The definitive Sega version though is the Saturn port - Imo, it's the best version full stop of the original game on any system.
I've been playing Sins of a Solar Empire on the PC. The game requirements are a 2.2 Ghz Core2Duo, but it was a bit too much for my old (3 Ghz Quad Core) Q9650 rig. I've been playing it on my i7-4790K rig, because there was too much slowdown on the older setup.

Original big box cd version, and it works just fine on win 7, which is always nice. Playing a solo fighter/thief. Currently at Dragon's Eye at the level below the cult.
Imported the Japanese version of DBZ Infinite World on PS2 because it's going cheaper over there than here, and played a little of it today via emulation, as I can't play imports on my real PS2. Yet (my console is modded, but I need to do research on how to actually get imports to run).
Anyway, game is like a stripped down Budokai 3, with awful minigames thrown in, some new broken and overpowered characters, and the difficulty of the game is insanely hard (supposedly, and I'm not fucking around here, they messed up the difficulty levels: Hard is Normal and the default setting, and by setting the game to "Very Hard", you're really enabling the Very Easy setting. How they cocked that one up, I have no idea, but they did.)
I'm not liking the game much tbh.
