Mostly PVP around the swamp PVP hotspot area and some progress through the catacombs. Smoked a few puffs of a joint halfway through and played some more.

Terranigma, in bits and pieces, and cycling between Final Fantasy 4, 5, and 6. Really just seeing how useful my Super Everdrive is.
The reason I haven't been around as much(aside from moving a bunch within a 2 year span), is that I got a bunch of games for the handhelds recently. Well, just River City: Rival Showdown for the 3DS(much prefer Tokyo Rumble to be honest), the rest were for the Vita, and I was dumb enough to make most of 'em RPG's(no random battle, menu based crap though). I'd like the Vita more, but it needs more action oriented games for physical releases, instead of RPG's and Visual Novels. Anyway, hopefully it'll be soon(I've at least seen a credit sequence in every game), but once I'm done, I'm done with modern-ish gaming on the whole(give or take a potential physical release here or there), and going back to emulating some Genesis on the Raspberry Pi.
Don't you have a platform to play one of the Dark Souls or Bloodborne games, midnightrider? It's old school classic Japanese gaming action at it's finest. Considering how we all grew up on classic Japanese action gaming I'm amazed so many here haven't played this series.
Nah, the only reason I have the handhelds is the cartridge-like format(well, I didn't even want them, but I got the 3DS as a Christmas gift, and then I saw the Vita had Dragon's Crown, which was ultimately not what I was expecting, but not terrible either, plus a MK game and UMvC3). I hate discs. A lot.
I will say though, if I did get a modern console, the PS4 would have my eye(Fire Pro World, which I'm sure is digital, which is something else I'm not terribly fond of, and I am aware of the Arkham-like Spider-Man game), but I really don't want to put up with discs ever again.
Plus modern gaming is more time consuming than I want to deal with as well. I like a game I can beat in an afternoon.
I've had a GBA for a long time, but for the first time ever I just tried a Pokémon game (Emerald). Great game, I wish I had tried Pokémon sooner.
Asking for a recommendation because I really don't want to start a meaningless topic for it. What's a good space combat game I can sink my teeth into for consoles PS1/N64 and reverse? Or PSP/DS and reverse if they exist?
I liked Shadow Squadron for 32X but found the ship selection to be weird. With managing energy reserves or whatever on the best ship.
I played Colony Wars before but found the way you need to switch weapons to lower a shield and then again to kill ships odd and cumbersome. And it was too hard with dumb escort missions and rare save points.
Some DSIII, like some progress through Irithyll of the Boreal Valley and the boss fight. But lost interest near start of next area. ... Still, seem to have over 60 hours into this game anyway, since most of it was exploring some PVP through wanting to complete all covenant challenges. Only one more covenant to complete (30 kills to max out covenant rank), which I can begin in this area I'm in as soon as I reach that room under the long ladder.
None of these covenants give out trophies, not that I ever play for trophies, but it was an interesting observation. Guess they don't allow online trophies for games with both online and offline so not to upset players being forced to play online (as if there's any other way to truly experience these games).
My girlfriend and I imported our characters from Champions of Norrath to Champions: Return to Arms. There is this lady at the beginning, and not only is her dialog and voice acting ridiculous, so are her movements and mannerisms. She is completely over the top B-movie status. They went all out, and if they keep this up, this will easily be my favorite hack and slash that I have played recently.
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate
I love me some Assassin's Creed and I love me some Victorian London, so it was a match made in heaven for me... a pity all the great stuff is in DLCs, but the base game is a good time.
Tried a bit of Mad Dog McCree for the CD-i. (don't ask why. :p )
Not recommended.
Up to a point, you can kinda live with the cheap deaths. But the light-gun control here is on the laggy side. Not exactly ideal for this sort of game.

As predicted since becoming a father my gaming has become more handheld in nature, this morning we had a lazy lie-in and I got around to some Nomad useage, which has been lacking over the last year.
I played Sonic 3D Director's Cut, Rocket Knight Adventures, L'Abbaye Des Morts, and Bughunt.
Ever since I got my new ED X5 (just in case my MED mk 1 blew up the house) I have been missing my save states a bit, but this way is the more old school way. I'll have to start a new code book, with an actual pen!
Nex Machina. Dem graphics.
I'm not one to play twin stick shooters since I prefer scrolling shmups in general, but I picked this up and I'm glad I did. The gameplay/scoring mechanics have got me hooked.
Also DariusBurst CS, pushing forward with the campaign mode and starting to dip my toes into the various arcade versions/modes.
Been playing Popful Mail since I recently picked it up. A really fun game so far.
Before that (and also recently) I've been playing Revenge of the Shinobi. With unlimited shurikens I can get to the maze stage before Neo Zeed.
I couldn't get that far as a kid back in the day. The levels are a lot shorter than I remembered but well balanced.
It's totally worth playing with the unlimited shurikens cheat until you get better at the game. Later plays without the cheat will still feel worthwhile and not so frustrating.
It amazes me how well the game works with and without shurikens. A ton of work must have gone into finding that balance.
Samurai Aces is pretty good.
Finished the second scenario in Octopath Traveler. Damn son. OT will be OP when it releases. Lost Sphear Was decent and Secret of Mana is alright but Octopath is where Square nailed it. This is a SNES SquareSOFT game I tells yeah. Holy shit is this good and shows Unreal 4 can make great pixel art games as well. This will be a real gem when it releases.

No idea how this game has been able to escape legal action for 25 years. Samurai Aces.
You know, as much as I love SEGA they always sucked as manuals. SMS boxes/manuals were awful and then when they got somewhat ok with Genesis they were almost always black and white. Yeah, there was a few times they spent money and went color but most the time boring old black and white. Kinda reminds me how Nintendo with Gamecube until late Wii era were cheap asses and the discs only had 1-2 colors printed on them. Last 1-2 years Nintendo allowed full color. I can't remember off hand what SEGA games did have a full-color manual. And now in the year 2018, very very few games have a manual anyway. ugh...
Was tinkering around with a slightly loose SCART connector on the Amstrad GX4000, and decided I may as well pop a game in (Navy Seals) while I still have the console all connected up.
One of the "better" games for it. So far I'll take their word for it because even though it looks pretty good, has good animation and scrolls quite smoothly, this game ain't easy. Not easy as in the frustratingly hard type. You can memorize the patterns, level layout, etc, (and that of course is key to help you progress), but that strict time-limit is what ultimately does you in.
Made it to level 3 a couple times. That's good enough for me.
Next.
I checked out Navy Seals on youtube and it does looks frustrating. The dude playing had never played before so that's mostly why. But the game does look a little stiff.
Holy shit! Shining Refrain coming to ALL consoles west! No doubt getting this and VC4 on Switch!
I know they were published by EA, but the Starflight and Might and Magic manuals are pretty great.
The gaming market is so odd and I don't like how it fluctuates so much. The early 2000s when I really started using eBay, prices were pretty much the same. Take just 2 examples I bought Raiden Trad and Raiden IV off eBay both for about $25 CIB in 2017. I looked today for the hell of it. $50+ for Raiden IV and $25 for the disc alone. Raiden Trad is even worse at $60+. That's just silly. Yes, I know there are much more extreme examples but that just shocked me. I'm seeing it more and more. A game I bought a couple years ago fairly cheap is now pretty expensive. (Lats Bronx is one of those) There was a time I thought $30 for Final Fantasy III on SNES was pricey for an old game as by that time most SNES games were dirt cheap, even Hagane wasn't expensive, mainly due the bullshit rumor of it being Blockbuster exclusive didn't exist yet.
I just played the Fist of the North Star Yakuza game. HOLY SHIT! Ok, this is amazing! LIkely the best this series ever had (Fist) for a game. It's a smoother version of the Yakuza fighting engine. It's fantastic. Shame we in the west will not get it.
I'm playing Front Mission Evolved. This is my first Front Mission game and before anyone freaks out. Yes, I know what the SNES games are and this is different. I know this was not looked at favorably by fans. I'm just looking for a fun TPS. I bought a few on PS3 I will post when they all arrive. Only a few missions in and it's just alright so far. Kinda fun and I'm not upset for $6 playing it.
Pre-ordered the Xenoblade 2 ost. I own Xb1 and X OSTs as well.
I'm playing Metal Warriors on SNES and Transformers War for Cybertron.
I really enjoyed War for Cybertron. Played the whole game co-op with a buddy. It was excellent. It sucked that they removed co-op from the sequel, Fall of Cybertron.

CLEVELAND—Growing ever more frustrated as he found himself spending his 10th minute of the day on non-interactive animation designed to advance the game’s plot, gamer Kyle Pierce told reporters Monday that even after spending 137 hours playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2, he could not believe that he has to waste his valuable time watching cutscenes. “C’mon already—Enough crap about the Argentum Trade Guild or the World Tree or whatever and let me get back to spending my time on something that matters...,”
I’ve decided to commit my time to recording a no-death playthrough of the original NES Mega Man.
On my latest attempt, I made it all the way to the second Wily stage without dying, only to get knocked into a pit during an admittedly careless jump. After that, I didn’t die again until Wily himself.
Irritating, being so tantalizingly close.
Playing Transformers Fall of Cybertron. This sure looks and controls better than the first.
I just went to buy the G1 Optimus Prime DLC for Transformers Fall of Cybertron. Well, I just found out ALL Activision Transformers games were completely removed from PSN/Steam/XBL and everything else. Not just the DLC but the games as well. This is the shit I am talking about. Digital only future is shit for this very reason.
Aladdin on SNES > Genesis version. Yeah, I said it. Music sounds better, follows the movie better and I prefer he doesn't have a sword. It is said and it is meant. I much prefer Mikami's Aladdin more. I do own both.
I'm playing Damascus Gear on Nintendo Switch. It's like Armored Core meets Diablo. Originally a phone game. It's pretty fun in short bursts. Not a graphical powerhouse at all of course. I now have 2 Mecha games on Switch. Implosion and this. Implosion is better but I like the customization in this. Right now my mech is bulky but you get parts so fast this will likely look very different in an hour. Whatever it's fun but don't be like me and pay the full 15 bucks. Maybe wait for a sale.

I'll probably play some more Forza 7 this weekend, love that series
I picked up Star Wars Battlefront II for $30 at Best Buy the other day. When I went to check out, it rang up 60, but the guy went and checked the price card and it was marked 30, apparently by accident, so I got a great deal.
So I put a couple hours into the campaign mode last night, and I'm really liking it so far. It takes place sometime between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. I like the conflicted main character you play as, Iden Versio. And in different chapters of the story, you get to play as classic characters as well, such as Luke, Han and Leia, at least so far. And because of this, there has been a good mix of different play styles so far. And the flying feels great.
Maybe that's online multiplayer stuff? I wouldn't know, I've just been playing campaign mode so far. What can I say? It's good. The controls are intuitive, the gameplay is diverse, and the story is immersive. If the last few years have taught me anything, it's that people on the internet just get way too worked up over Star Wars.
The backlash was due to the pay-to-play progression system. EA altered the game in reaction to the outcry, but the removed system likely to be slowly reintroduced back into the game knowing EA. Apart from that, the game was well received.
I'm mainly playing Forza Horizon 3 and Arkham Knight. Arkham Knight's story is rather poor and the heavy vehicle focus is annoying, but it's still a good game. I'm mostly enjoying it. Horizon 3 is beautiful, and I'm actually loving the soundtrack selection.
